The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. They suggested great day trips and things to do around town. The setting of the lodge, despite being right on the road, is very quiet with beautiful palm trees blocking the sounds of the street. Despite being a little out of town - 10min walk, the location is perfect for the Mindil Beach markets and sunsets, while allowing you to walk to the city and escape back to the lodge for some peace and quiet.
spotlessly clean, cool tiled floor A good mattress, crisp white sheets, LCD TV, hotplates as well as microwave, table and chairs outside room to relax so I didn't feel boxed in, nice shaded pool area with plenty of loungers. Best value for money in Darwin. Easy 10 min walk to cbd.
The privacy, location, and hospitality of staff is outstanding making us fell right at home didn't want to leave. The lodge is very quite and hidden away but close to the city night life. excellent set up i would like to more business with you anytime.
A great place to stay when the budget is a concern - and still within easy access of the main attractions if you are willing to walk a bit. Very well run, friendly, and comfortable. We had no trouble checking in after the desk was closed.
This was economical stay in an expensive city. The staff were friendly, location quiet and accessible to Botanic gardens gret for walking and a picnic. The pool setting was an added bonus.
The place was clean and well managed and at the price I paid, that was very good value for money. The place is very close to City and all Darwin's places of interest.
Got what you paid for
Did'nt expect any mor4e or anyless. Staff & Management more than helpfull,Friendly &
and easy to talk to. Nothing was a problem.
Awesome, friendly, helpful staff. Very clean room and facilities. Can definitely recommend this place to anyone who enjoys a bit of Australian nostalegy!.
To have cooking facilities in room.
Natalie and Annie were both extremely helpful and kind.
My room was nice, clean and everything worked properly!.
The price for overnight stays, close proximity to the city yet quiet serenity of the gardens opposite and the pool, and friendly, helpful staff.
close proximity to everything but situated where it was quiet.Lovely helpful staff who went out of their way to ensure my stay was very good.
Self contained kitchen was great and a big money saver.
Vey kindly let us stay in the room til our red eye flight.
Nice pool.
I got a basic room which was clean and adequate for what I wanted, at a good price. The staff were friendly and very helpful.
Clean, comfy and close to everything...very budget friendly..very basic but all we needed.
Staff very helpful. ..
Location,Friendly Staff,Rooms ok,the Pool&BBQ were great.Manager Natalie was very cooperative and helpful.
Kitchen in my room.
Clean
Everything prepared for my arrival
Windows opened to outside
No need for blankets.
relaxing, good location, value for money, friendly, pool, quiet, save, good parking.
The room was very good & comfortable with all that we needed. Great
!!!.
nice setting for a solo traveller.
Everyone was very friendly I felt safe.
Superb hospitality, lovely pool for the kids and nice barby facilities.
Very helpful staff
Very clean and quiet location
Central to darwin city.
Being within walking distance of most places I had to attend.
Friendly staff, nice pool, good location.
Comfy room, very clean, decent location.
It was quiet and good value for money.
Location and privacy.
The hospitality of the owner, Natalie was fantastic. I arrived in the
early hours and had to wake her. She told me what I needed to know and
was very have there. I like the open common area and met some other
people there that I then ended up going on a great sunset cruise with.
Natalie was very proactive in helping me obtain information about tours
and cruises. The garden was beautifully tropical. Little bar fridge in
my room. My downstairs room had direct access to the common area and
pool wh.
Staff were friendly and helpful. I arrived in the middle of the night and everything was organised for me. Additional local advice on sites and things to do.
It was also quiet, near Mindil beach and the Sunday market, near the Botanic gardens. A bit far from any shops for a self-catering set up.
very friendly and helpful personel
Clean enough room
relatively new kitchen equipment provided
parking place close and without additional costs.
Beds were very comfy and clean, fresh linen daily
friendly and helpful staff.
I liked the kitchenette in the room, the staff was attentive and friendly.
the location the staff and the beds
value for money.
Handy to town.
We chose this place because of the price, which was much lower
than other places in Darwin. The manager of the place Natalie was
very helpful and didn't mind us arriving in the middle of the
night (2am).
Plety of bed space.
Darwin is ridiculously overpriced in the dry season and this place was cheap.
I could hear other people's TVs through the walls. However they must have had them on very loud.
outside of building could do with a spruce up.
having to leave the Barra lodge. I really don't want to tell any one about this place because I want it to my self LOL.
The kitchenette cooktop needed attention and cooking utensils a little sparse.
Mosquitoes...
Rest was all good and hopefully, will stay again, should another opportunity arise to visit Darwin.
Toilet & shower area a little tight for room, but clean at all times so no complaint.
Felt slightly vulnerable as anyone can just walk in off the street!
Not that they did, of course.
Some furniture is tacky. A bit of white paint on the cupboards and new pillows and more comfortable overlays on the mattresses would help a better night's sleep.
Other guests got loud sometimes.
air cons could have been a little more effective.
Not much,I would recommend that they replace the stove,or dials.other than that,we got what we paid for,and some. And would book again.
I didn't really need my linen change.
no private bathroom, no A/C in common bathrooms, only two bathrooms for all guests.
Being informed of an extra nite's cost. Not good! This was
sorted later & our money refunded.Discrepecy in your booking
date & theirs. Last day departure was the issue here.We
weren't the only ones.
Having to leave...
The Air Conditioner. Older style to noisy (made it hard to sleep) and placed along side head of bed. Needs up grading to a newer quiet more modern style and different placement.
not applicable.
Shared bathroom was very hot and humid, needs a strong exhaust fan.
Only one toilet /shower combined that if being used was locked so no
access to the toilet if someone was in the bathroom. The kitchen
facilities were cramped and only had a microwave and kettle. The room I
had did not have a window you could open so the air conditioner/fan
really had to be used to bring fresh air into the room when the door was
closed. Tv didn't seem to work, but as I couldn't care less
about tv, I didn't mention it to Natalie.
Darwin's accommodation is surprisingly expensive. The Barramundi is slightly out of town in a quiet suburb. It is pretty basic and the wifi did not really work for a normal computer though I was able to get it working on my blackberry.
no fully clean toilets (but not so bad), but I guess due to wet climate.
Hot water tap didnt work
Shower pressure very poor
No shop
Smell at front of Barramundi Lodge.
Laundry shut in morning.
the mattress on the twin bed in the room was awful. The Queen was fine.
It is looking a little tired, this could be fixed up with a little general maintenance and a few coats of paint.
Rudimentary ablution facilities.
The other guests created a not very pleasant environment and we
didn't feel very comfortable there. The bunk bed was very noisy. The
room had a strange smell. Would recommend only for very short stays.
TV did not have good reception.
Dead cock roaches on floor.
Air conditioner was not on when we got there so room was hot.
Window wa missing a pane of glass so air con was not effetive.
The AC was loud and rattled loudly. (You could see the AC was very old). The fridge was the same and kept waking me up through the night. I spoke with another person who had been in that room who had spoken to staff about the issues. Nothing had been done then so I didn't bother.
Aud 130/night for a hotel that has not been renovated in years with a shared toilet was terrible value for money. The Rome were very shabby.
Lots of noise from traffic and adjacent room. Reception hours very inconvenient. Absolutely nowhere secure to leave your luggage. Not close to anywhere so you would really need your own car.
1) There is a problem with security ! Our room was entered twice by foreign people while we were resting.
The same key opens many rooms in the lodge !
2) Foreign travelleres do not carry phones with them ! Imposible to contact receptionist upon arrival !
3) The double bed was all shaking while turning around.
4) The price was far too high, ridiculous high for what we were getting !.
It was a bed for the night, I would not stay there again. The room
was minute, poorly maintained and decorated, rubbish.
