It was all the little extras that Travaasa did that sold me! The sandalwood soap, the quality of shampoo and rinse, the soap dish and toothbrush holder. The staff were exemplary!Always going out of their way to insure we had the best care possible!

This is the real Hawaii! Our children visited on the lanai and cracked fresh macadamia nuts. In the morning we drank rich Kona coffee, from the local landscape and delighted in sharing adventures and insiders knowledge over a perfect breakfast. Easy location to beaches, restaraunts, and sunny Kona weather. Kurt's family home surpasses any destination hotel or resort. We longed for it after moving on to other parts of the island. 5 stars.,

I stayed 5 nights at the hostel and it was great! Roommates are from different places of the world and most of them are very friendly and I made a lot of friends there. It was October and not so noisy as I expected in the night, which was good, and it was fairly convenient and economic for a backpacker to stay. Mostly importantly, the location was extremely good and it was just a couple of minutes to the beach.

I had a problem with the air conditioner in my room making clunking sounds when turned off and I was all prepared to demand a new room, however, after reporting it to the front desk it was fixed by maintenance by the time I returned in the afternoon. Stayed here for 1 night just to sleep after a late night flight in before moving onto the beach front. Staff were friendly and offered us a free upgrade. Room was very clean though dated. Although away from the beach it is really only a few minutes away and you can still see the ocean. Great for travelling on a budget in Honolulu. -

Upon arriving, we parked in the spot labeled Pineapple. Toby was working in his "man cave" and came out to greet us immediately.

Toby and Kirby are superb hosts! Since they've lived in the area for decades, they have an intimate knowledge of the north short of Kauai, and of its residents -- chatting with them was a bit like being an insider!
Toby's breakfasts are superb, and the home is beautiful, and supremely comfortable. The kitchen and living room were always open to guests and we took full advantage of it.
You could have as much privacy or be more social with guests and the hosts, as you preferred.
