  We loved the classic old style pub, especially when the log fire was lit in the evening. Lots of atmosphere with interesting photos on the walls. The staff were friendly and helpful.   The service was the best I've experienced anywhere. Nothing was too much trouble and I've stayed in many 5* hotels especially in London. This was as good if not better. The hotel was beautiful too. The rooms were gorgeous. We had a feature room. With huge shower and late bath in the room. Which was fabulous. Beds were amazing.   We chose Thistle Cheltenham because a few weeks earlier we had stayed in The Atlantic Tower - Thistle in Liverpool and enjoyed our stay so much we looked for the Thistle name for our visit to Cheltenham. Excellent in every respect. The room was easily on a par with Liverpool (except no flat screen TV but this was not a problem). The room was lovely and we have visited the hotel several times over the past 10 years and always enjoy returning to the Thistle Cheltenham. Lovely hotel and the breakfast was very nice.   Liz and Kevin are the new owners of The Coach and Horses....they only had been the new owners for 6 weeks at the time we stayed there. They are warm and welcoming. The pub/dining room is a historical building sitting on a major hwy. The guest rooms are in a "newer" building at the back of the property. I believe there only are 4 rooms. They are locat - Very friendly and warm welcome. Room was cosy, warm, well appointed and very clean, the fixtures and fittings were stylish and overall very homely. The village of Bourton on the water is only a 10 minute walk so it is well situated to amenities nearby. Food was excellent and presented beautifully. The atmosphere in the pub was very good and very friendly. I would defiantly recommend this pub as a good place to stay
