The Guy Fawkes Inn is such a great place, the location is spot-on for a stay in York, the place is steeped in history and the rustic charm of the inn is amazing, you feel like you've travelled back in time once you step through the door, but in a good way :)
The staff are amazing, very professional and very friendly, you feel at home straight away.
The rooms are great, very clean and comfortable with great facilities.
The food is outstanding! Presentation is awesome and it tastes amazing.

Location, near a gate to the old city and very close to shops, as the main reason for our visit was to do our Christmas shopping. Accurate, detailed instructions for finding the apartment were easy to follow. Also the small problem we had with the kitchen lighting was dealt with very promptly, effectively and courteously. The apartment was warm and cosy and suited our needs very well.

Location of Gillygate was perfect for our brief stay. The hosts were very, very knowledgeable and helpful. They made us feel very welcome and comfortable. Decor was lovely and rooms were clean and pleasant to spend time in. Blown away by the plush, stylish apartment. We visited York with my parents & this 2-bedroom apartment suited us much better than two separate hotel rooms, as it provided a social space (kitchen, dining table, sofas and TV)
Incredibly convenient for walking to key places in York; train station, the Shambles, the Minster and, highlight of the trip for my husband, the National Rail Museum.
The lovely Heather at reception is also wonderfully helpful :)

We got a family room ,so no complaints plenty of room , nice and airy well fitted out. - Position to city centre,and all of things stated in 2, not forgetting the gorgeous breakfasts and complimentary coffee and cakes in the afternoon.

The hotel is very clean and well decorated, modern and stylish furnishings but lots of old character to the house. The self check in procedure was very easy, breakfast was lovely and the staff were very friendly. - hotel was close to city centre,tastefully decorated ,very clean and staff very helpful and friendly. Pleasant terrace in a quiet street. Not far at all from York rail station but I didn't realise this at the time so I got a taxi to take me to Briar Lea.
