  The great proximity to the port. We got off of our ship, took a complimentary shuttle bus to the end of the port where we were dropped off and walked under 10 minutes to this lovely hotel. It was a 4 star and definitely the nicest one around. The rooms were neat and clean and the air conditioning was quiet! Very important! As we only stayed overnight on way to a cruise we just enjoyed one lovely dinner and breakfast but was extremely happy with all service provided.

  This was a very nice hotel away from the center of town with lot's local flavor. The room was quite spacious and comfortable. The staff at the hotel were extremely helpful. Our room had a terrace which was very nice with a good view of the harbor.   I travel quite a bit, but not usually overseas, I have been in Europe several times but by far the hospitality and warmness of the people at the Hotel Miramare was exceptional. Also the view of the Mediterain was awes - Friendly staff who went out of their way to help us (and spoke terrific English) We loved the breakfast and being able to have it on our little balcony with its wonderful views of the Mediterranean. The room layout was also excellent since the door could be closed between the "bedroom area" and the "entrance area". That way if one person is sleeping the other can be in a different area.

  We had 9 people in our family group fly into Rome fco and the hotel shuttle met us as planned and took us and all of our luggage to the hotel promptly. We spent the night and the shuttle took us the next morning right to the cruise ship porters to load the luggage on the ship. We ate dinner in the restaurant and everyone ordered something differen - The hotel was close to town but not in the noise of the city. Our welcome from staff was a warm one, knowing just enough English to be helpful. The room was quiet, clean and comfortable. The restaurant had an amazing menu with something for everyone. The free shuttle to the port and ships was a perfect start to our Mediterranean cruise.
