Colin, Francis and the gang were terrific and very helpful re local info, restaurants, etc. We wished we had stayed longer. Nicely, restored large house across from Oban bay, just far enough out of town to be walkable and quiet at same time. Beautiful views of Kerrera and sunset. Great breakfasts. -

Raniven is a first class guest house. We had a room on the top floor. It was quiet and very comfortable with two easy chairs - a real treat! We loved our stay in Oban and Raniven Guest House was a great place from which to explore it. Stuart and Moyra were lovely hosts, very welcoming and helpful, and the accommodations were clean, comfortable, and tastefully decorated. The buffet breakfast included not only a full continental breakfast, but several hot plates as well, and was easily comparable to the "Full Scottish" breakfast served at other B&Bs.

We liked everything. The room was spotless and very well set out. There was a lovely view of the sea and the bed was very comfy! We're vegetarians and there was plenty choice for us at breakfast - we were stuffed by the end!! - Lovely room with view over harbour. Ideal location. Staff very pleasant and helpful. Wide range of choice for breakfast.

He assured us that he would clean our room first in order for us to check in early. He also helped to carry our bags to our room and refused a tip. He was extremely accommodating and friendly. Clean, comfortable. Like living in a big family home. Breakfast was honor system, you cooked or ate and then paid the prices in a honesty jar.
Made our own breakfast, cleaned up after or selves and talked with lots of different folks from all over.
Beds were great, showers had plenty of hot water.
Great price. Pub under neath the hostel, I can see that in the summer with the outside pub overflow it would be loud.
