This is no ordinary B & B but a century old pub situated in a quiet residential area, 5 minutes from the train station and 10 from the city centre, with friendly helpful staff and excellent food at a good price. I stayed two nights and had intended going into the city for the evenings but ate and drank in the pub instead, great food and cask ales I really enjoyed it - even the locals were friendly! They were very helpful. After I was there for three hours I discovered the toilet did not work. They moved me to another room immediately. Two days later the ceiling caved in during the night because of the water from the air conditioner. Immediately they moved me to another room. - the clealiness was fantastic. infact it worth more than the money

The rooms are quirky but incredibly comfortable with amazing views over the river - my room had four rooms with dual aspect. The jacuzzi was special and even the toiletries were excellent quality. The hotel was very comfortable. I had asked for a room with a view over the countryside and was given one. We were originally given a room with an ajoining door which was noisy as we could hear the next rooms tv. I asked reception if we could move. They read my original request for a countryside view and upgraded us for free in order to do this so

Our room was very comfortable, well furnished and well decorated. Both food and service in the restaurant were excellent. I loved everything about The Boacardo and would recommend it to anyone. They went out of their way to give us an early check in, helped by holding our bags after our stay while we did a tour, recommended a good food pub, offered adapters, had quality toiletries, etc. Beds were comfortable, and temperature could be controlled by us.This was a delightful hotel which I would stay in again.

We booked into our standard room,which was well above standard. All was good until we found that the bathroom sink was blocked. The staff arranged for maintenance to come to the room.
