  We received a very friendly and helpful welcome, fairly late on a Saturday evening, when the hotel (and town) was very busy. Throughout our brief stay the staff were excellent and the breakfast (the only meal we took) was very good.   Home from home, commanding views over Scotland's boarder country this olde worlde Scottish town is right on the m74, but very peaceful and with loads to do. The hotel is well appointed friendly to all and welcomes bikers with little bike garages. The bar sells Innes and Gunn beers one of Scotland's best kept secrets and not to be missed. Simply a great place to stay. - The friendliness and sense of humour of the staff, the restaurant (really great food, not the usual English fried stuff, although they do serve a very good fish and chips), their initiative, although we didn't book it (not too sure when we would be back) they did keep a table for us in their restaurant for Saturday evening just in case we wanted to dine with them. Which, of course, we did!
