A short walk to town, although walking up the hill (back from Bath) can be challenging if you have poor fitness. A cab from town only cost £6, which is a cheap alternative to walking up the hill.
Overall a wonderful stay and I would definitely stay at the Devonshire House again.

Lovely Georgian house which is a 20 minute walk into Bath benefiting from private parking and a beautiful garden. We stayed in the Indian room which was full of items collected in our hosts' travels. The breakfasts were superb enjoyed at a communal table with "proper" tea from silver teapots. the kind of thing you'd expect at a hotel, but the friendliness

Great location and hospitality from the owner "Giac" Unusual
to receive a text both before and on the day of arrival but very welcome
(and sensible!) We were able to confirm what time we wanted to arrive
and check in. Room was very clean and comfortable (especially the bed)
The shower was great too. Breakfast is taken in the basement kitchen and
was fresh and wonderful quality. It is only a 10minute walk or so into
the city so was a great location for going in to shop and leter to have
dinner.
