Our room was very tastefully decorated and the double bed was huge! The lady who checked us in and served our breakfast was friendly and informative about the local area. We were in town for a night out watching bands so the delicious vegetarian cooked breakfast was essential to revive us the following morning and I'm sure the same can be said for the other breakfast options! With the price of our stay being low, we weren't expecting much so we were very pleasantly surprised. I would stay again. alle vurderinger »
Firstly the location of this hotel is very convenient. It was a 5 minute
walk away from the town centre. The external appearance of the building
is finished at a high standard and this is matched internally. The
owners were very friendly and polite and provided us with local
knowledge and directions. The breakfast was excellent and at a very high
standard. Overall the experience was excellent and I would highly
recommend staying here.
The guest house was ideally situated for my needs and everyone was very helpful and friendly. The breakfast was very good and was cooked to order. The owner also recommended an excellent restaurant that was just a few minutes walk from the guest house.
Beautiful warm welcoming room, attentive and well mannered staff, excellent food, the little chocolate egg hidden under the tea mug on the breakfast table on Easter Sunday was a lovely touch!!! We would definitely stay at The Grove Guest House again :).
Given a key on arrival so you come & go at will. Very clean pleasant room with desk space.Seats outside if its fine. Pleasant helpful staff.Mainly quiet except for the occasional noisy builder! Ideal for my purposes.

Our visit to Grove Guest House was very good, the host was welcoming and informative and we very much enjoyed his recommendation to dine at the Pant Yr Ochain pub for dinner - made our stay!.

I liked food at Grove's guest house, the location was good (near to the city center).

The room was good.
The only negative was that the corridors were quite noisy when other
guests were entering their rooms and leaving, the noise echoed along
the corridor.
The hallway wasn't carpeted and the walls of the room were a bit thin meaning that you were easily disturbed by other gusts coming and going. The town center was a bit grim and depressing.
Because there is a wooden floor in the hallway you can hear other guests entering and leaving the house which would wake you if you are a light sleeper.
Kettle cleaned with bleach one day. Otherwise can't fault it.
As motorcyclists there was no hard standing (gravel driveway) except for the porch. It might be nice to have a hook on the wall near the shower to hang your towel. Saves getting out if the shower wet and having to slide across the floor to the radiatior to get your towel. (A very minor thing. Not a complaint, just an idea).
The bed was situated under the windows which were very draughty and the
smoking area was situated right outside the bedroom. The door leading to
the outside area was very close to the bedroom and did not have any anti
slam guards on it and the door banged loudly everytime it was opened and
closed during the night which woke me up frequently during the night.
The stairs are steep and narrow and a bit tricky with luggage.
The wooden floors were noisy, especially when someone walked down the
stairs at 0200 in high heels as they left the guest house. Apart from
that a pleasant stay.
The breakfast sausage - a pink blancmange tube. Oh for a good Welsh
porkie replacement!.
Bed was rather uncomfortable, could do with a new mattress. Sheets felt a bit clammy. Came out in a horrible itchy rash on day 3 during the night. Wondering if the sheets weren't properly dried and I had a reaction to the detergent.
Noise of other guests at night on corridor and stairs.
if there was one criticism, it would be the laminate flooring through the hallway which made it quite noisy when other guests got up early. perhaps a carpet runner in that area.
Walls are very thin - could hear all conversations in neighbouring rooms.
Small washbasin with enormous fixed mixer tap which made it difficullt to wash, shave & fill the kettle!.

The room I was allotted was very small, and made out at the side of 1st floor, the roof was so near that I hit my head to the roof several times. Toiletries like shampoo were not available.
I felt that breakfast was expensive.
Sound carried so that guests coming and going was quite disturbing in the early mornings.
Because of the Wooden floor in hall you could hear every other guest coming and going. Although we were told by the staff that they knew the television was broken that morning no action was made to replace it.
Laminate floor- noisy.
Key fobs - very noisy, clattering.
Toilet brush dirty with brown water in container.
No flexibility with early start for breakfast.
We asked if we could have an early breakfast - none offered.
