The Guy Fawkes Inn is such a great place, the location is spot-on for a stay in York, the place is steeped in history and the rustic charm of the inn is amazing, you feel like you've travelled back in time once you step through the door, but in a good way :)
The staff are amazing, very professional and very friendly, you feel at home straight away.
The rooms are great, very clean and comfortable with great facilities.
The food is outstanding! Presentation is awesome and it tastes amazing.

The staff were extremely helpful and suggested that we change our roomto meet my mother's needs (she'd hurt her foot at work and is scared oftravelling in lifts so we'd have needed to climb 6 floors to get to ourroom). Location, near a gate to the old city and very close to shops, as the main reason for our visit was to do our Christmas shopping. Accurate, detailed instructions for finding the apartment were easy to follow. Also the small problem we had with the kitchen lighting was dealt with very promptly, effectively and courteously. The apartment was warm and cosy and suited our needs very well.

Blown away by the plush, stylish apartment. We visited York with my parents & this 2-bedroom apartment suited us much better than two separate hotel rooms, as it provided a social space (kitchen, dining table, sofas and TV)
Incredibly convenient for walking to key places in York; train station, the Shambles, the Minster and, highlight of the trip for my husband, the National Rail Museum.
The lovely Heather at reception is also wonderfully helpful :)

I stayed here while visiting my daughter who lives in York and I found this hotel to be lovely. The staff were helpful and friendly. At the bar the service was excellent and the breakfast (a buffet) had something for everyone's taste. The hotel was spotless and the bed was extremely comfortable. I had a room at the front of the hotel overlooking the road, a nightclub across from it, but it didn't bother my nights sleep in the least. The shower was lovely (a walk in shower) and very roomy.
