Having never stayed at this type of lodging we were a little hesitant and unsure what to expect after reading the reviews; however we were pleasantly surprised! Paul and Deborah were excellent hosts - very friendly and informative. The room was clean and comfortable, and housekeeping was excellent. Room including breakfast was a real bonus. The hotel is in a quiet area but still only a short walk to city centre. I have already recommended staying at Abbey Hotel to my work colleagues.

The Elder York Guest House is a lovely place to stay in Edinburgh! The location is excellent, walking distance to all attractions. There are road works going on, but these won't interrupt your stay and should be over soon. The room was spacious, lovely big bed, bathroom was fab, very clean and very comfortable.The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The location is outside of the city but the bus stops every 5 mins just outside of the hotel so its ideal and you avoid the heavy parking charges for staying in the centre. Breakfast was good with a hot and cold buffet available. We would definatley stay here again.
