Housed in a chic Sukiya-style tea house building, Ryokan Rikiya is a 10-minute walk from the famous historical district Gion and a 15-minute walk from the Kawaramachi Station. The Japanese-style accommodation has a restaurant and a garden.
Rooms offer both air conditioning and heating facilities. Rooms feature tatami (woven-straw) mat with traditional futon bedding. A fridge and a television set can be found in all rooms.
Guests at Rikiya can stroll around in the picturesque Kyoto neighbourhood. After a busy day of sightseeing, they can relax in the hotel’s garden.
The hotel’s restaurant serves Western breakfast, as well as an authentic local breakfast.
Rikiya Ryokan is a 6-minute walk from the Yasaka Shrine. It is 250 metres from Kodai-ji Temple and 1 km from the Kiyomizu-dera Temple.

The location was perfect. Close to the old part of the city, quiet and
within walking distance of 3 great temples.
I would not recommend it though.
The location is amazing. Ran by 3 old ladies who live on site. Note the
best presentation but they're very friendly.

Very special location!.
Located in beautiful historical area close to many major shrines. The place has potentials as the building is like an old museum. There was a "Fawlty Towers" aspect of the experience with those very elderly mama-sans shuffling around.
Position is very good, in the middle of an old and wonderful area, just close to some interesting temples.
Location.
It was terribly overpriced and the rugs on top of the tatami mat were
the last straw. Staff were sortof helpful but I feel it was a bit of a
tourist trap....not at all the traditional Japanese inn. An opinion
shared by another traveller.
Although traditionally Japanese, the whole place felt a little bit run-
down. The lacquer was worn off, the furniture a bit past its prime. I
was a little bit disappointed by that.
Expensive.
The place feels a little threadbare and worn, and we had difficulty communicating with the staff, who were often hard to find and spoke very little English.

Way overpriced! They really have to step up the game and not just rely on location and the old building. I love shabby-chic and wabi-sabi but this ryokan is just neglected, run down, unkept, smelly, dirty and un cared for. Worst AND most expensive place we stayed in during three weeks in Japan.
The price is far too high for the offer, the people is not able to speak english. What is the worst thing is that they do not want to be paid in credit card but they want to be paid cash, be warned!.
