The hostel has so much character, it's a really lovely house with a
cosy common area. The staff is incredibly kind, friendly and welcoming.
On two nights that I was here they even cooked a Japanese home-made meal
for everyone. The house is very clean (no shoes inside), same goes for
the toilet and showers. The showers are good and very modern (shampoo,
conditioner and soap are provided), there is free coffee and tea.
Location is very practical - Nijo castle is a short walk away and at the

staffs are so kind and friendly.
Easy to get there from kyoto station and it's located at center of the city so easy to go somewhere.
All the guests stayed in the dormitory that I used was quiet and good. I could join the farewell party of one of the staffs and I really liked the atmosphere-even almost every people were speaking japanese so I hardly understand-.
The cost was reasonable and the shower booth was much better than I thought.
I would definately stay here again if I visit kyoto.

This guesthouse was a wonderful place to stay. It is simply furnished in
the traditional Japanese style with shoji screens and a tiny kitchen and
courtyard. Toilets are outside and the facilities are basic, but my room
was sunny and lovely. The staff are fantastic - Yuya and Yuko were
friendly and helpful and the common room was often filled with people
drinking and eating and having fun. Walking distance to the pretty
shopping district and also to the Imperial Gardens. Highly recommended!!.
The stay at the Hostel Mundo Chiquito was one of my best hostel experiences. Always inviting me for another food adventure for dinner the staff was informal, hospitable and absolutly generous. The Hostel, an old selfrestored japanese house gives an authentic atmosphere. Add to this a lovely Zen-style garden in the backyard and the situation between two of the main sights in kyoto and the combination is unbeatable.
Highly recommended.
Staff were super friendly. Other guests were also very sociable. Made
for a very nice atmosphere. We arrived at night and the owner and staff
were having a farewell party. All guests were welcome to join for some
free Japanese noodles and beer. There's a common room and kitchen
with basic facilities like kettle, stove, cups, plates etc.
Friendly staff, clean, well organised, short walk to subway stations. Our room was nice and had plenty of room, with tea and coffee provided free. Even the guests that were staying their were friendly and helpful. I would recommend this place to anyone that wants a great stay and is on a budget.
Beautiful traditional Japanese design with a fun Latin-American twist.
Friendly, fun and helpful Staff a++ to Yuya-san and Reina-Taicho.
Sociable environment, great place to meet other travelers and locals. My
stay was relaxing and most enjoyable. I certainly will be going back!.
The staff were lovely and always eager to help. The hostel itself is a very cosy quaint little place in a traditional Japanese style. A good location, and with the option to hire bicycles for the day it makes an excellent base for the spread out sights of Kyoto.
The location is a little far from the JR station, but very near the Niji castle. All the staff are great. They can speak great English (there is a western staff and two local staff) they offer me lots of advices and I really had a great time there.
Very fun during stayed here, meet new friends, and the staff are very welcoming and friendly. If one day I got to Kyoto again, I would stay here again.
staffs in hostel is so kind.
room is not really big but everything included.
the lobby is so good to chat with other people staying in hostel.
Very friendly and helpfull staff. Very good location a little bit away from tourist hot spotts. Nice local restaurants nearby.
Definitely cheap for its standards. Very friendly and helpful staff~ Quite a clean and relaxing place to stay...
Staff and atmosphere were awesome. Also it was conveniently located close to Nijo castle and public transport.
Hosts r very friendly and kindly. the hostel is not a hostel just like a home. high recommend!!.
Yuko is very kind and friendly !! the place is also awesome for real japanese culture style. ;).
The staff! Everybody there works hard to make you feel welcome.
Yuko thank you for everything!.
Very helpful and welcoming staff. Very nice decoration and japanese
style! No ikea here.
The common area is a great place to meet people.
The beds have curtains, which is great!.

traditional tatami .
The staff is amazing and the hostel is very clean.
The Japanese style room is great. Kind staff.
excellent very helpful staff, well located.
Value for money. Stuff very friendly.
A great historical little hostel ^^.
The house itself was very old/traditional and tiny! And the dorm
room is absolutely small! But you have enough space just for yourself.
Despite the size of the house, there was a small zen garden outside the
shower rooms, well it looked lovely during the day but can be creepy at
night (depends on how many japanese horror movies you have watched lol)
was an excellent place to stay! Walking distance to Imperial palace and
some castle named Nijojo.
The thick curtains in each bunk which gave a lot of privacy, the fully equipped kitchen, the bathroom which was located in the garden(!), n yuya, the friendly english speaking hostel manager!.
For a hostel it was OK, but could be a bit cheaper. I paid the same price for the hotel in Osaka. But the staff was friendly.
Staff were very welcoming, mattress and duvets made it very comfy and warm.
very friendly staff & helpfull.
I had to get a little used to the beds in the dorm room - they are
comfy, but feels like sleeping inside a box which is slightly
claustrophic the first night, but I got used to it quickly and
slept well.
The door was hard to open quietly, so I worried to make other guests up. hahahaha. but not a big problem.
If you have noisy neighbours, be sure to use earplugs - sound travels
easily through the thin walls.
The western rooms were extremely small and the walls weren't
soundproof. There was no desk, wardrobes, hanging space or hangers.
There was nowhere to hang wet towels or washing. No laundry service at
the hotel or anywhere nearby.
There were 2 communal showers that could only be reached by walking past the common room and going outside. Shampoo and conditioner were supplied but there is no vent in the shower so it can get very misty and hot to the point where you feel faint.
Was a little tricky to find when we first arrived, but this is more or less universal throughout Japan unless the accommodation is located on a main street.
Nothing.
Nothing in particular.
Nothing.
non.
The doors... The are very short, I hitted my head several times. Also the are hard to open close as the mechanism is rather basic.
Mosquitos... but they are everywhere in Japan ad well.
Having to leave... :(.
shower room on 1st floor, after shower very cold in winter.
Walking on the path to toilet I felt cold cuz it's outdoor.
And there's no tepid(warm)water faucet so my hands froze.
It's in the deep street. A little bit hard to find it.
Bathroom space is too small.
I had a room close to the toilet, so it was noisy (the walls are thin as are the doors).
Shared kitchen was tiny.
