We spent one night on the way to Elba. Fantastic Tuscan views, peace and total relaxation on the go. Maybe a little hard to get to the destination. I would recommend for people who like detachment from the crowds. Near the 20 to 30 km two wonderful small and charming towns. Good restaurant. Highly recommended for a relaxing break or stopover. -

Everything was wonderful. The friendly staff was also helpful in recommending nearby sites to see and activities to do. It was very clean and our room was quaint as well as comfortable. The Albergo Villa Nencini is very comfortable and generously proportioned hotel. If you want an experience of Italian hospitality in a traditional style this is a great place to stay. The staff were very accomodating as we changed rooms.
I do speak a little italian which helped as some of the receptionists did not understand english, but they were very friendly.

Great location in the old city with a lovely garden at the top. No lift, but if you are going to a hill town you are going to be using lots of stairs anyways. No lift was not a problem for us, but some people may, We had a view over the street from their top floor. It was interesting to watch the town wake up in the morning.

The location is wonderful for who travels with car (it is far away from train station). Locating outside the center of volterra under an ancient gate, it is easy to reach the center or the wonderfuel country landescapes by walking. The garden is exquisite, just like a mini paradise, maybe even better because it is a paradise with Wifi:) The onwer Luciana is very kind and very helpful.

minutes walk from the old town without the bother of parking in a very
congested place.
The breakfast was a feast in itself. The owner was a mine of information and recommended an excellent local restaurant, La Balze, for evening meals.
