Staff were friendly and helpful even though we spoke no Portuguese. The hotel is organised very well, very clean and safe. Value for money in Rio, WiFi always worked in my room, Breakfast was good and delivered to my room. Around the corner from Rio Scenarium, an excellent nightclub with live bands. The Rio Metro is within walking distance and can take you anywhere for less than US$2.

Perfect for a two-three day getaway and would work well if the beach is not an option (winter) or just to mix it up before/after a few days at the beach. The area itself is interesting and from what I gather has some cool drinking holes and restaurants. One could start and finish a book in peace here, yet 'feel Brazilian', and not feel they need to join the flock of tourists seeing the usuals in Rio. I enjoyed spending time at the bar, restaurant and spa - perfect for a day of indulgence!
