The hotel had a very 'old fashioned' feel about it which was delightful, and a welcome contrast to impersonal corporate style hotels so often encountered. The food was very good, and appeared to have been fresh and locally sourced, but fell a little short of gourmet. - The food was excellent. Peaceful and quiet. Location wonderful - could walk out onto Rosedale Moor, very convenient. The visit to Lastingham Church and famous crypt was superb.

  The location was excellent for a country break. Room had a balcony andit was lovely to have a pre dinner drink in beautiful location. - Excellent food. Attentive staff. Unpretentiousness of the hotel.
