Situated peacefully in the heart of the beautiful North Yorkshire Moors, The Blacksmith’s Country Inn, at Hartoft near Pickering, is a delightfully restored 16C inn. Originally a farm house this lovely old building has been carefully rebuilt using stone rescued from the ruins of Rosedale Abbey. Today, the Blacksmith’s offers 19 non-smoking en-suite bedrooms, welcoming open fires, a traditional English bar, a stable restaurant and a cosy lounge.

The location was excellent for a country break. Room had a balcony andit was lovely to have a pre dinner drink in beautiful location. Excellent food. Attentive staff. Unpretentiousness of the hotel.Exellent staff, helpfull at all times, food was very good and verycomfortable hotel. The staff were very friendly, polite and helpful and made us feels very welcome. Small, friendly hotel with excellent food. Friendliness of staff. Pleasant hotel, ideally situated. Location and enjoyable enjoyable evening meal. location. Excellent food and surrounding country side. excellent breakfast and evening meal comfortable lounges. Peace and quiet with friendly staff. My only complaint would be the shower in my room, it was a bit slow, myfreind who stayed in the next room said his was excellent. But thatsaid, it did not spoil my stay in any way. Its hard to find anything not to like, however it would improve the hotel if the bathroom, althoug perfectly adequate, was updated.Bedroom only had a bath no shower. Bedroom a little small and bathroom not too well lit. high priced food. Could have been cleaner.Water pressure poor so unable to have a proper bath/shower. Needs a lickof paint and some updating. given wrong room on arrival so hotel changed your room then 1hr later told we were in the wrong room again so they wanted to move us again ,but thay dicided against this, but other wise a plesent hotel.

We offer 19 en suite bedrooms, all of which are decorated tastefully and in-keeping with the style of building.
The 4 Superior Rooms were built in 2000 to celebrate the millennium. They are spacious and built away from the bar and restaurant to ensure peace and quiet for the occupants. Superior bedrooms are based on the ground floor with French doors leading onto private gardens.
The other 15 rooms are all situated on the first floor in the original part of the building. They each enjoy views overlooking the beautiful North Yorkshire Moors and Cropton Forest. Five of these rooms have shared balcony access.
