The pool and spa facilities were excellent; it was clean and a very pleasant environment. The booking was easy and I liked the fact that no money was taken at the time of booking. The evening meal and the breakfasts that we had were very good and it was really helpful to be able to book a meal on the day we arrived. The hotel is situated within walking distance of the City but was quiet.

The evening meal was very good, a nice selection from the set menu, the service was good, and we had been seated, served and had eaten a 3 course meal within an hr.it was ok only about a mile from centre of carlisle poor sign posted on the road warm rooms poor signs for room numbers as where they were. the staff were excellent however the hotel is in great need of a refurb and is quite tatty.The hotel was very friendley the food was great and an excellent location. pleasant staff nice atmosphere waiting staff very nice. friendliness and helpfulness amusing and cheerful. clean and comfortable breakfast was very good. Free on-site parking. staff very helpful. central location. the reception lady was lovely and helpful, also, the pool had closed when i got there but the man stayed a bit longer so that i could have a swim.the food was probably from Iceland Supermarket or similar but it was excellent value for money and it was a pleasant restaurant. Room temperature too high - unable to adjust - no controls. breakfast would be improved with some more frsh fruit, and nicer bread!. Looking a little 'tired' and ready for a refit.My Bathroom, although clean was in need of reurbishing. Room was in close proximity to liesure centre and subsequently very warm and felt a bit claustrophobic. Facilities in room were however more than adequate and good value for money.rooms could do with refurbishing. To be honest our room was a bit scruffy - wallpaper ripped off wall, black mould in bathroom, however bed was comfy.I would have expected a little more choice for breakfast - e.g. mushrooms but what we did have was good.The bedroom was far too hot at night which made for an uncomfortable and restless night. Perhaps, one or two extra milk cartons in a room for two. the fabric of the room was in poor shape, needs refurbishment. It could use a facelift.......carpets/decor. The man at reception could have been more cheery. The room was far too warm. no hand soap provided in the bathroom.In need of upgrading. noisy pipes during night. Rather disappointed with bathroom, in particular the toilet seat hadseen much better days, the veneer had cracked and the mdf underneath waspeeling away, not very hygenic. No chain or inside lock on bedroom door.Decor was a little tired. thought the bar prices were a bit dear when u got a lot of pubs down the road from you. Bathroom well past its sell by date. The bethroom left a bit to be desired. There was mould around the bath and a distinct smell of damp. The shower head was adjustable, well it would have been if it had stayed in the position you put it. The brown wooly blanket on the bed was a bit off putting as was the wholy bed spread.state of the decor, furniture and bathroom... The hotel room we had was very very hot we could not close off heating as the heating pipework and boilers did not shut down throughtout the night.Recommend without heating.the first room was awful smelled strongly of urine i couldn't believe it it was disgusting. Complained room changed. carpets worn. restaurant service at night was terrible waited 20 mins and went elswhere to eat after no one came to take my order. Some plumbing problems and one evening meal booking went astray but sorted out by waiter.I am an asthmatic. The telephone directory in the bedside table was very dusty. I needed to use it and inadvertantly therefore disturbed quite a bit of dust, which cause coughing. It felt as if the bedside table had not been cleaned recently. No internet access. Windows leaked and this meant you could the wind all night and the size of the bath is fine for a midget i am 6ft 4in. needs refurbishing badly wallpaper torn in room grouting in bathroom badly stained looks very dirty. i found the restaurant staff a little rude. I went down to the restaurant at half 8 (it closed at 8.45) and despite the fact there was only one table of people in there the woman said that i would have to sit in the bar. i felt that this was because i was a single person dining and she wanted me out of the way.
