  Manaar House is definitely one of the best places to stay in Durban/Umhlanga. We stayed there for three nights in the self Catering Apartment. The a/c duplex unit was extremely spacious, spotlessly clean, nicely furnished and well maintained. But the best thing to report was the warm, generous and very welcomi - As a couple with young kids, it was an absolute dream staying at Manaar House as it was so kid friendly that our kids did not want to go out because of the toys provided in our section of the house! It was funished with antique furniture and the bed was of a good qual - The total experience, but primarily the rewriting of history. The colonial history of the hotel is abundantly clear in its incredible collection of wooden furniture, tap crowns, low door handles, etc. However, it reflects a poetic irony in the Madiba art collection and his inspiring words in his own handwriting, and the "new" queen of the castle halfway up the majestic stair case.   We simply loved this place, everything about it. Great rooms, they smell so nice and fresh :-) nice facilities, beautiful garden. Cathy and John are excellent hosts and made our stay very enjoyable. Gave us great restaurant tips and we could just listen to John's storries all day long. We didn't want to leave. Location is superb, but would advise hiring a car to keep things easy, breakfasts and johns stories are worth the cash alone. Overall great value, in a great location and we can't wait to return. I will never f - The hotel is very central and is quite lovely. It has everything that you need. The view is absolutely stunning. It is close to Ushaka and the Sun Coast Casino. If you do not want to use your car there are the "People Mover" buses that you can travel on. The room was pleasantly comfortable and quite spacious. The breakfast had a wonderful selection to choose from.

The grounds are beautiful, the room immaculate and the wonderful hosts, David and Pam, are friendly and attentive.
