  We love what Douglas Fir has to offer our two Granddaughters in terms of facilities(the pool, hot tub and play park). We had a one bedroom chalet which was perfect for us and Douglas Fir provided a playpen and highchair, which meant we did not have to pack them in the car. We love being able to take the bus for free, and we love the friendly staf... wat mensen zeggen » f, who always smile and give a warm and friendly greeting, and that includes all the staff we met either indoors or outdoors. We love seeing the wildl - The Waterslides and Indoor Playground were BIG hits with the kids!! The fireplace and free wood were most welcome. The surprisingly convenient and well-stocked store on site was also a welcome convenience. The full kitchen and nearby parking were very handy. The location is far enough from town that it is quiet at night, but a close bus ride, short drive, or half hour walk away from the Resort.

  Everything. This was a luxury hotel at a moderate price. Room was large and spacious. It had a soaker tub and separate shower. Bed was so comfortable. It had a pool/Jacuzzi/steam room. It was a short walk (1/2 - 1 mile) to downtown but far enough away from the noise and crowds of downtown shoppers. Complimentary breakfast was good. We were on the 2nd floor and the floors felt heated, not sure if it was from rooms below or actual floor heating. The bathroom is huge, separate tub from glass shower. The room had a fridge, two comfortable chairs and a dining table, which we could use for snack or breakfast, a very large desk and a chair, which we could use for a computer. The room was warm - the air conditioning was very powerful and it warmed the room almost instantly. The staff was great - a few days before our - Great hotel! Friendly staff, clean spacious rooms, kitchen, microwave... We've stayed at other places in Banff, and liked Irwin's the best. Most of the other places felt more like overpriced motel rooms, while Irwin's felt like a nice hotel. We got a great last minute deal on a room, and were pleasantly surprised by what a nice place it was. Also, pet fee was only $10.

The bar was good and the food was nice, the accommodations were comfortable and quiet. Underground car park was great and included in price. Indoor parking with easy access to room by elevator. Good restaurant, open quite late even mid-week. Mid-week rates very good value. Cosy, comfortable lobby.
