Midweek rates in November were very good. Conveniently located hotel near the centre with plenty of off-street parking, which a lot of places in Ambleside do not have. The bedroom was not large but adequate, the kingsize bed being comfortable. Large bathroom with spa bath. Cold buffet breakfast was extensive and very good. Pleasant helpful efficient staff.

The staff were exceptional in every manner. Each one we spoke to were very polite and accomodating, especially when booking out as we were leaving at 6am the next morning and they prepared a fantastic breakfast which was delivered 30mins before we departed at 5:30am. We stayed in the new Silver Suite - it was extremely comfortable with a most beautiful view across the water.
Needless to say, but the food was magnificently presented and absolutely delicious.
The staff were exceptionally courteous and delightfully friendly. You felt you were staying with friends.

Friendly owners who make you feel like you are welcome into their home and who greeted us like old friends, remembering us from a single short visit we had made last summer. Beautiful period house and garden located in quiet country lane with glorious walks into the hills directly behind. Walk below into the quaint village of Bowness. We loved having the excellent breakfasts and heading straight out behind the house for hill walks with tremendous views over Windermere. Extremely comfortable, clean room and all necessary facilities. Staff were lovely and welcoming. Would happily stay again and definitely recommend.

We stayed in room 8 and it was just as amazing as the pictures we saw on here. Huge walk in shower and free standing bath tub. Very comfortable bed and astonishing view from the private balcony. A return visit for 3 nights, after a 16 year gap! The hotel has changed hands since then and is almost unrecognisable from the previous visit. I stayed here by myself for 2 nights. I had a standard single room, which was just what I need with plenty of space too. The beds were comfy, tea and coffee making facilities and some delicious homemade shortbread provided too. I felt very welcome from the minute I stepped through the door, especially as it was the first time I'd stayed away on my own. Nothing was an issue, and with the perfect weather it was pleasant to sit outside in the garden and enjoy a view of Lake Windermere. Service was

Everything was excellent. I was there with my girlfriend and happy to stay there again. Special thanks to manager of the hotel. He was absolutely friendly and cares about us (he recommended to take hotel umbrella because rain could be later and he organized wonderful mini bus tour for us to the lakes). Breakfast also excellent (you could order classic English, continental breakfast and even salmon), wi-fi, TV provided but not so interesting because nature outside is very beautiful.
