Midweek rates in November were very good. Conveniently located hotel near the centre with plenty of off-street parking, which a lot of places in Ambleside do not have. The bedroom was not large but adequate, the kingsize bed being comfortable. Large bathroom with spa bath. Cold buffet breakfast was extensive and very good. Pleasant helpful efficient staff.

Very good guesthouse with very friendly and efficient staff. The double room with en-suite (£70 per night B&B) was very good value, well appointed and was very clean with high levels of local information. The breakfast was extensive with cereal, fruit juice, fresh fruit, yoghurt, full English breakfast with tea/coffee and toast. Alan who co owns Melrose house with his wife Lynn could not have been more helpful. A definite recommendation for Melrose House and will tell family and friends.

Check in was quick and we were shown our room and its features explained. Room was at back of hotel but spotlessly clean and comfortable. Decor was modern and my girlfriend impressed with Sanderson wallpaper, curtains etc. Water in shower was hot (a bath would have been nice to relax in after a days walk, but you can't have everything). we had a great time.The hotel owner was very knowledgeable of the area and advised some good places to visit.All staff very friendly and nothing was too much trouble.The accomadation and breakfast were fantastic coupled with a great location,5 mins walk to town and 5 min walk to waterhead.The hotel was spotless throughout.We had such a great time we booked our parents in for a short break for their anniversary.whilst there and we would definatley stay again.

In the village are some great restaurants (Doi Intanon, Fellini's) and cozy lunchrooms (Bilbo's cafe, Applie Pie cafe).
You can go hiking from your hotel, but also easily catch a bus to the northern and southern lakes.
Tip: walk the pretty route to Grassmere.

We liked everything! The suites are perfect, with lovely appointments.
The owners are exceptionally helpful and friendly. It's very very
clean. It's close to everything at Waterhead and only a mile from
Ambleside, with good bus service to everywhere in the Lake District.
I'd return to the Lake District just to stay at the Quaysiders Club. -

The provided coffee, milk, biscuits, and hot chocolate were _sublime_. The free WiFi was a great perk. Wonderful ambiance for small get-togethers.

The Twin room we stayed was spacious, clean and warm especially large shower room! The breakfast was cooked to perfection especially mushrooms, tomatoes :) David and Angie made us feel welcome and were very helpful when needed. Thank David told us the forecast everyday in order to help us how to plan our day if it rains .... Do enjoy the view from High sweden Bridge ! And Derenwater at Keswick !!! Thank you for making us feel at home !!!

We booked two rooms as we visited with family from overseas. The hosts were extremely friendly and accommodatingThey provided us with many tips on the area. My parents liked the place so much they went back to stay again a few days later. Perfect location and lovely breakfast. Would definitely recommend Ambleside and this guesthouse!
