Very friendly landlord and staff.
Location right in centre of Ambleside.
Excellent food and beers.
Parking for guests is a bonus in a busy town centre.
Whole area is picturesque and a great location for lake tours.
This is a busy pub and hotel and staff were on top of their game.
Overall we were very pleased with our choice of the White Lion and consider it value for money. We would certainly book again. tutti gli commenti dei clienti »
Located right in the heart of the lake district made it a ideal place to
travel from. Hotel clean and our bedroom was delightful. Food pub grub
and reasonable if that's what you want.
friendly and lively with kind attentive staff esp. manager .Excellent location in heart of Lake District , great for climbing and access to watersports.
great Breakfast set us for the day, good food all round from menu at good prices, room was a good size with comfort and staff very friendly.
Excellent, very friendly staff. Also nice to have a pub downstairs, which was never noisy or disturbing either.
the problem was addressed the next day in a very professional manner, and the assistant manager was lovely.
the hotel was excellent and very well located, the breakfast was one of the best i've had in a long time.
Very convenient location for the Great North swim and fell walking.
friendly staff, good food at reasonable prices, exellent location.

The break.
Location was spot on .Breakfast was really good set us up for the day.
The location was good. Ambleside is a great place to stay for resteraunts and pubs and is a good central location.
It was a great location in the centre of Ambleside.
Location.
An old building so don't expect modern decor. Our large bathroom needed a bit of a revamp but this is a very minor matter.
Can be a bit noisy at night and early mornings, but this is to be expected in such a busy location.
Not great choice on breakfast, I would have liked continental but full
English or variation was on offer.
The hotel bar was noisy quite late but it wasn't a problem for us.
The mattress had a few springs which made it slightly uncomfortable, not too bad though.
there was a problem with the breakfast and tea on the first morning (it was cold).
Can get very busy and noisy in the restaurant and bar.
Does the music really have to be that loud?
OK I'm old and grumpy!!.
Nothing.
Noise due to supermarket across road from Hotel.
A bit noisy for children at night but nothing too bad.
Limited parking on site, some cosmetic / upkeeping to the room need attention.
The room was spacious, it was a family room after all but it was tired. We hoped it would be better than the photo but it was not. The room was cold and it was not possible to turn the heating up, and the breakfast was undercooked and bland and also accompanied by the background noise of the cleaner hovering the bar area.
It is not really a hotel - check in is in the bar. The bed was small and the shower was awful. The staff seemed more interested in each other than the customers -didn't even ask did we enjoy our stay of 3 nights! The Manager was more interested in openly flirting with the young barmaid which made us uncomfortable. The food is reasonably priced but very average. Wouldn't recommend.
On arrival key didnt fit room..got told housekeeper had walked out previous night. No cups in room and 3 of the cartons of milk were out of date! No bin in room for rubbish. On the sunday a member of staff screamed at another member of staff,in front of customers. And finally on our last morning they were not set up for breakfast for ourselves or the other guests.
