  When I initially booked my accommodation at this hotel I asked for a double room that had plenty of fresh air, as I suffer if exposed to cigs smoke or various smelly things. To accommodate this request they upgraded us to a 1 bedroom self contained apartment at no extra cost. From the apartment it was a nice walk into the old city and we enjoyed our stroll there. The cafe o - The price is really good and the rooms are fully refurbished and with a private bathroom with shower. The bed is incredibly comfortable and there wasn't any noise whatsoever. The staff were friendly and there's a bistro bar downstairs. There's plenty of parking space around the hostel

Eneda greets you in the mornings and can recommend places to eat etc, then her brother takes over in the afternoon.   The teenagers' room had an adjoining sun room with table and chairs and windows which opened properly. Also, we were able to park right outside the hotel for a small fee.   Really liked Hostal Mexicana. A well-run and well-kept hostal. Really comfy beds. Clean throughout. Decor a little dated but quaint. Excellent location of hostal too. Santander is a great place for short break: mountains, sea, city and good food. - Just next to the main square! Very friendly and helpful staff.
