The staff were great, just couldn't do enough for you and the hotel
itself is a great mix of the old original house and newly built annex
with lots of facilities, including a bar, jaccuzzi (if the weather
allows), good size pool etc.Breakfast is also of a high standard with an
excellent continental selection as well as choice of hot options. The
breakfast room is a lovely location with comfortable chairs and soothing
background music being played, all getting the day off to a great start.

It's such a quirky hotel in design, which actually makes it fun to stay there. Staff were also excellent, extremely helpful and pleasant - Great hotel, great location, great staff just perfect!

It was an excellent location from which to explore Cape Town and the surrounding countryside inclsuding the Cape of Good Hope. It was also great to have a kitchen and the option to eat in instead of out - a real treat on a long trip. It was clean, the staff charming and we would certainly go back there again. Free parking too!

The best hotel I've ever stayed in hands down! The staff was amazing! Else the owner is always there to greet you and help with anything you need. We came without really having an agenda and by the time we finished breakfast she had booked all of our excursions! The Hippo is well-designed, clean, and in a great location. The room was super modern and cute! We loved having a nice little kitchenette (complete with a french press coffee maker). The rain shower and heated floors in the bathroom were nice as well.

This hotel lived up to all our expectations and more. We arrived at 10.30am and expected to just leave our luggage, but we were given our room straight away. The staff is extremely knowledgable and friendly, the hotel is almost a B&B but with private facilities, easy to walk to most in town attractions, excellent breakfast very good and convenient before the start to the day, good connection to WIFI. They also have a good network of local experts if you are looking for a guide (ask for Domingo)
