  We were blindsighted by the wonderfull reception and experience we have had in Meknes and at Riad Amazigh! Amazigh was, up to now (only one more hotel to stay - in Rabat), the very best place we have stayed in Morocco. At Amazhig, nonetheless, we were received with genuine and honest kindness. Hassan, the manager, was amazin - Unfortunately I stayed at Riad Amazigh just for one night. I met the owner Fatima which has welcomed me with a lovely dinner (the olives and lemon chicken tajin was amazing). The room was big, clean. Did not have the chance to use all the hotel facilities. The breakfast was abundant. The quality of the service is higher than other riads I have been during my holiday in Morocco and the price is fair compared with the overall quality of the experience.   First of all , I would like to make a special notice about Mohammed the manager. I had booked a 2 night stay at Merzouga camp and to my surprise I received an email from him informing me that due to the hot weather (June) it would be better if we stayed only for a day in the dunes and could spend the other day at his house in Hassi Labiad which is... cosa dice la gente » a small village at the gates of Sahara.I Always appreciate honest people and this was a hint of how nice our stay would be. After a 7 hour drive from - We enjoyed every last detail of our trip. Our guides were incredibly helpful, very kind and patient with our children. We arrived in the midst of a late night sand/rainstorm and yet Mohammed still came out to guide us back to our room. We were invited into their homes, fed like kings, catered too and truly felt not only at ease but also safe.   On a hill overlooking the town and has a nice view from the room balcony. The inside is very nice, and the room feels very cosy with the wooden walls.   Though we found the facilities quite basic, this riad delivered what we came for. Ali, the owner, was very available, friendly and responsive to our needs. We wanted to experience desert culture and because of him we did. He took us to a village wedding which happened to be taking place the nite we arrived; he took us on a 4wd trip into the desert... cosa dice la gente » to visit a family, hear some traditional musicians, and see aspects of the desert we wouldnt have seen without him. The fact that the riad is located - We were very well greeted by Ali and his staff. Ali quickly arranged jeep and dromedary (no camels in Africa) trips for us. The room was nicely decorated, Maroccan style. We had a wonderful evening meal under the tent by the pool and all you can eat breakfast. Above all we got what we came for, to see the desert, visit a different culture and meet friendly people.

We booked a room at Chez tonton and got a really big, nice and clean room in berber style. The staff was really friendly! We also booked a trip with a driver around the desert, saw fossiles, an old coal mine, nomads in their tents, had a nice picnic next to the desert under a tree, etc. in the evening we made a camel trip into the dunes and stayed overnight. Our guide cooked us a superb tajine and Berber Khalia and we could watch the stars and enjoy the silence of the - Very friendly owner, very helpfull (he helped us with booking a camel). After diner the owner came to sit with us to have a chat. Nice room, with airco. Very nice breakfast with fresh pancakes.
