  We spent one night on the way to Elba. Fantastic Tuscan views, peace and total relaxation on the go. Maybe a little hard to get to the destination. The staff couldn't do enough to help you, whether it was about your room, the local towns or where the nicest beaches were. They also spoke very good English. The room was great with everything you could need and was overlooking the valley and Volterra.

  We stayed three nights in May at the Hotel Molino D'Era and loved everything about the hotel. It was our favorite during our month long tour in Italy.   Etruria was a very nice small boutique hotel run by the owner, who is very kind and organized. She treated us very well, gave us directions and recommendations and a city map etc. The parking is like a 100 meters or 100 yards away, you'll see why these walled city hotels don't have parking. The hotel is small, but it is smack in the middl - Great location in the old city with a lovely garden at the top. No lift, but if you are going to a hill town you are going to be using lots of stairs anyways. No lift was not a problem for us, but some people may, We had a view over the street from their top floor. It was interesting to watch the town wake up in the morning.

  We stayed in Volterra one night on our way to Florence since my wife said we had to stay in a small Tuscan town. The town was fantastic. The hotel was excellent - very cozy room with a nice bathroom, and very quiet, and very clean. The only rating not getting an "excellent" is the location -- it is outside the city walls, about 300 meters out the - The location, just outside the town of Volterra is excellent - five minutes walk from the old town without the bother of parking in a very congested place. The breakfast was a feast in itself. The owner was a mine of information and recommended an excellent local restaurant, La Balze, for evening meals. Excellent value for money and really nice people
