A very nice hotel set in a beautiful location. Staff very friendly and helpful. Food excellent. Gym and spa excellent. Food excellent. Room was massive and very comfortable. Only complaint was what I thought was a double bed was actually two stuck together and I only noticed that when I rolled over in bed and the shower was very weak and not powerful enough. All things considered a very nice hotel and I will definitely stay again when I am in this area on business.

For our needs the quiet, rural location was lovely. Nice to stay in an independently run hotel instead of the usual formulaic chain of hotels. The views across the fairway was beautiful. The use of the swimming pool etc was an added bonus which we took advantage of. The staff were very accommodating. Breakfasts were fine again with excellent service. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would be happy to re-book at the Shaw Hill Hotel. The staff were very welcoming from the moment we arrived. The hotel itself was beautiful set in lovely grounds. The leisure facilities were great and having complimentary use of them was lovely. The restaurant and lounge were beautiful and the service was excellent. Overall a fantastic place to stay. Staff were very friendly; nothing was too much trouble. Bedrooms and venue had lots of character. Restaurant food was incredible - completely blew us away. A fantastic night with a lovely breakfast in the morning. Would definitely stay there again!. Friendly, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was fresh hot and well cooked. Good choice. Decor in room was dated but didn't detract from stay. Reception staff were very helpful, free wi-fi, golf / leisure facilities and restaurant were all value for money will stay there again. Having said that it was perfectly edible, although the house wine was not great.... Can't think of anything... there was nothing not to like. Whilst our bedroom (15) was of a good size and clean with comfortable beds, there were missing drapes over the beds and the shower was poor with an awkward bath. The heating system did not operate in the morning. At breakfast had to keep finding a space on the table as plates were stacking up, could have done with table being cleared a bit more by waitresses. Not enough toilet paper, better if they catered better for gluten free and room service was 24 hr no matter when you ordered and no dress code for the bar. Having breakfast served in stages, there where no eggs or hash browns ready and had to be brought over to us. Parts are a little tired especially our bedroom furnishings. Did not have a lift as I have a bad leg they put me on the first floor and the staircase is a big one. Had difficultly coming down it did not say they had rooms on the ground floor until leaving.needs a revamp. The room was clean and okay but the view out of the window wasn't good We looked out to a fence about 2 metres from the window and the back of the hotel This meant very little light got in the room and made a sunny day look dull. Being overcharged and having to keep calling for rectification. Dirty bed sheet Cracked and loose tiles in Bathroom There was NOTHING superior about my "Superior Double room" Doors banging all evening and then started again at 5am, I don't know if it was inconsiderate guests or the doors need better restraints but it was impossible to sleep for the noise. Hotel is looking a bit tired and in need of some update. old and in need of repair our suite smelt of drains. The shower was awful. Burning hot then freezing cold. Impossible to get a suitable temperature. Three different times we tried and gave up. In need of a facelift. Somevofvthevroomscare a bits"tired" and the floors creaky. I was wakenedvseveralntimes with noises from the corridor floor. The hotel is looking very tired, decor uninspiring, mattress very poor and uncomfortable, squeaky floor boards. Used to be "The" hotel in the area. I stayed in room 10, very over priced room! Dated decor and sticky bathroom floor! Dirty bed sheet. I knew the rooms were a bit battered from the reviews so I booked a superior first or second floor room. I got the room out of the hotel in the block behind the golf carts looking out on a brown fence, very very poor. The hotel should have honoured the booking made. When are two single beds considered a double? When they are attached came the reply................ Must be an old hotelier joke?. Cleanliness of hotel not what I would expect for the money. Only one role of toilet paper in room initially although when a request made response was quick. Contradictory info in the hotel information - e.g. is the golf complimentary or 50% discount. no internet in the rooms interior and facilities not in line with the standards of business travel. (everything was outdated, except for the LED tv in the room). The room, the decor, the musty smell and the over down trodden, ragged corners vets... certain staff did seem bothered needs upgrading.
