  Ourgrown family of 5 stayed overnight this week while visiting the snow monkeys. The hotel and staff more than met our expectations. The hotel was smaller than expected, but that was a plus. The rooftop onsens were fabulous, the first we have tried in Japan. The recommendations for local restaurants given by staff were spot on.   We arrived at Yudanaka Station within the pick-up timeframe, went to the info desk and they called the hotel for us which was a great help. They arrived within 5 minutes to collect us. We were greeted with a welcome tea and mochi and showed to our room. Room was amazing, really authentic, spacious and clean. You get a key to all 9 of the onsen in the town which were all in walking distance and there is also - Having spent 3 weeks travelling around Japan, my highlight of the trip was my 2 nights in Senshinkan Matsuya. The owners were so helpful and friendly, picking me up from the train station, driving me to the monkey park (a great experience by the way) and dropping me back to the station the morning I left. During my stay I was lucky enough to opt for a traditional Japanese breakfast and dinner which were both superb. Shibu Onsen itself is a wonderful place with 9 public bath houses which are fun
