  Amazing place! Excellent closeup view of the lake at an affordable price with reasonablr comfort. Rooms spacious and extremely clean. Excellent staff (i think its family owned and we had asked about good hiking routes. the lady owner speaks excellent english and offered to show us the way by car to our endpoint gor us to park our car, and then dro... ce que les gens disent » pped us off at the starting point! Excellent onsen! With both open air and indoors. Free parking. Free and strong wifi - It is a japanese ryokan, guest were mostly japanese. The facilty is a bit old but they have free onsen pools indoor and out door 24 hours! It was very near to attractions and they have a well stock pub with sake and whiskies...friendly staff but few spoke english...but it was not a problem as they were so friendly and helpful.

  We walked to the hotel (no car) and when the lady heard that we would walk down to Kawayu-onsen village in the evening (40minute walk on dark/unlit roadside path) she sent someone after us to give us a ride! And gave us a taxi number for our return. Really nice of her! It was beautiful and very relaxing. A man came to set up our futon at around 6pm so we - The staff is very accomodating.
