That said, the lodge was clean and the beds were comfortable. What made this place special was the cozy atmosphere and beautiful location in the mountains. Kamikochi is nearby and you can also visit onsen. The lodge has a nice outdoor bath (wooden hot tub) next to the mountain stream behind it. The hardworking

  The family was wonderfully helpful and welcoming. Hot water for tea was in the room upon arrival, as well as a japanese style bathrobe. Everything was clean and beautiful in a traditional Japanese fashion. They let me keep my bag behind the desk for a day after leaving. Only a ten minute walk from the train station (although not obvious, I was abl... ce que les gens disent » e to find it in the dark pretty easily), although They do offer free pick- up. And a great price! - Matsukaze was a well-staffed, friendly and budget-oriented Ryokan that delivers for the price asked. Though not in the central-area of Matsumoto, it is probably the best-value-for-dollar for people who want traditional Japanese accommodation in this mountainous area. Additionally, the Ryokan is a 15 minute walk from the JR Matsumoto station.
