The was my best hotel experience, ever!
This place exceeded every expectation I imagined. The owner, Fernando, was charming and a delight to talk to. He has lived in Matera for 22 years and has been in charge of the restorer action of the property. It is incredible. My wife was overcome with tears of joy when she saw the room.

Host and owner Fernando sets the benchmark of hospitality in Italy. Generous and helpful, he booked us tables at the most interesting restaurants nearby and filled us in on the fascinating history of this interesting town (over grappa). The rooms themselves embody this history and are each different, without sacrificing luxury. Simplicity as well as attention to details. Thoroughly recommend.

Excellent location. An authenic experience of living in one of the "sassi". It was nice to be able to cook and make coffee. Very cosy and immaculate with all the details well thought out. A great experience all round and highly recommendable. -

The setting is breathtaking and the staff is amazingly attentive. We had dinner there and it was one of our best meals in two weeks. - a beautiful hotel with some wonderful antique pieces in a fresh and spacious interior.the staff were very helpful and provided us with dinner although we arrived after serving time.lovely gardens.

Le B&B est très bien situé, à l'entrée du centre historique. Chambre et salle-de-bain spacieuses, confortables, très modernes et joliment décorées.

We loved everything about this place. The apartment itself was spacious and clean; the balcony, looking out over the sassi and the Duomo, was fabulous and perfect for an afternoon aperitivo. Staying at Sextantio Le Grotte Della Civita was an amazing experience. The location, in Matera amongst the 'sassi', was spell binding and the luxurious accommodation blended with the location very well. I would describe the accommodation as rustic embellished with luxurious touches - from the designer bath to the amazing breakfast! It says a lot that when we arrived and saw the place we immediately wanted to extend our stay! A big thank you to the helpful, interested staff.
