This lovely 19th century coach house is set on the edge of Dartmoor, close to historic Tavistock and the Tamar Valley. The valley is of outstanding natural beauty, yet only 15 miles from Plymouth.
The Coach House was built on a site, which was originally an Anglo Saxon settlement in 850 AD. It was built by The Duke of Bedford in 1857 to his own design as part of a model farm. It was sold in 1988 and converted to a 3-star hotel.
The hotel regrets that it cannot accommodate children under the age of 5 years old.

Quiet and peaceful, nice food. location. Good value for money, friendly and laid back. Relaxed and informal. Freindly staff. Remote location. Nice get away place.very good food. Our reception was very nice and the hotel has a very pleasant ambience. Our bar snack was good (delicious puds!) and very good value. We would certainly recommend the restaurant.Pleasant, friendly staff, we were made welcome. Good breakfast althoughlimited choice. Clean.Easy parking. it was nice and quiet. Clean room, good breakfast. thought some items in the room were dated and needed replacing. Outside lighting along path to adjacent building desperately required aswalkway is on a slight slope, and slippery in parts. Only 1 seat in roomdespite it being a double of very good size. No bath. The draught beer selection was limited i.e. no real ale available except in a bottle.Duvet was a bit small. temperature far too hot in restaurant/breakfast room. Requested a smoking room but not available. It was difficult to find (could not do it even with GPS, had to ask taxi driver's help). No dinner served. Quiet at the time of our visit but I think it would be noisey if fully occupied. The mattress on our bed was uncomfortable and there was no attempt to explain what there was in the way of a visitors lounge. (we found it on our final morning). Also the full English breakfast was bland, tasteless sausage, overcooked mushrooms etc. A bit tired and shabby. Evening meals poor quality, either over orunder cooked.there was a boiler cutting in all night. Very poor restaurant service.
