Two days later the ceiling caved in during the night because of the water from the air conditioner.   Room was clean and modern. Bed was comfortable and very convenient to bus station and centre of town. Breakfast was fine as was showering facilities if you don't mind sharing a bathroom with others.   We booked into our standard room,which was well above standard. All was good until we found that the bathroom sink was blocked. The staff arranged for maintenance to come to the room. They were unable to fix the problem straight away, therefore the manager arrived and moved us immediately to a superior room with complimentary drinks. Will definitely stay again. - Absolutely loved this hotel! I booked the Malmaison mainly for the fact that it is a converted jail and that it was in a Lewis episode. It was a bit of a splurge & worth every penny! The bar was fantastic & both bartenders that we encountered were quite lovely! We were treated really well by both gentlemen. By far one of the best experiences I've had in a hotel in the uk. I would love to come back & spend more time.

  The hotel is very central to Oxford and as close as you are going to get without paying a lot more. It is a fairly easy walk up to most things in Oxford. There is no manned reception so it might be a bit hard to check in at times. The breakfast was good value for money. The room was clean and the bed comfortable. It was also well situated and a short walk to the city. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend the White House to our friends and family. - A well run, welcoming, clean guest house ideally situated within easy walking distance of the city centre and the train and bus stations. Friendly staff and full English breakfast included in room rate. Happy to recommend and I would certainly stay there again.
