The hotel was in a lovely setting in the select village of Wetheral, close to the city of Carlisle. Lovely walks by the river Eden, just minutes away and lots of history in the nearby St. Constantine's cell and the English Heritage abbey gatehouse. I was a little worried after reading the reviews, but we had no problems at all. Before going i requested a newly refurbished room and it turned out to be a spacious twin, that was clean, comfortable and quiet. I do agree that the rooms are a little warm and the windows don't really open, but other than that we had a comfortable stay. Really enjoyed stay as base for visiting family in Cumbria. We were able to bring our two dogs rather than leave at home for small price per night. This was fabulous for us and a surprise as not realised when booked. Also free car park a real bonus for location and so convienient. Great shower in bathroom and as good as you get anywhere. All in all enjoyed 3 night stay with location short distance to walk to castle and park for dogs.Would recommend for budget conscious comfortable accommodation

Loved the service. As there was a mixup with the booking the people at the guest house simply adjusted it to match our needs. Loved that staff was firendly and made us welcome. They even kept pur belongings safe the next day, after check out while we were in town. Really nice breakfast as well. Would love to go back if in the area. Good value for money.
