We had booked an overnight stay on the way back from Scotland. Our choice was an executive room - DB&B at a very good rate. The hotel was in a lovely setting in the select village of Wetheral, close to the city of Carlisle. Lovely walks by the river Eden, just minutes away and lots of history in the nearby St. Constantine's cell and the English Heritage abbey gatehouse. The room, although small, was immaculately decorated and very clean with lovely white crisp linen and soft fluffy towels. I was a little worried after reading the reviews, but we had no problems at all. Before going i requested a newly refurbished room and it turned out to be a spacious twin, that was clean, comfortable and quiet. I do agree that the rooms are a little warm and the windows don't really open, but other than that we had a comfortable stay. I thought everything about the hotel was good. It was quiet and the room was spacious clean and had all the facilities required for a pleasant stay. Really enjoyed stay as base for visiting family in Cumbria. We were able to bring our two dogs rather than leave at home for small price per night. This was fabulous for us and a surprise as not realised when booked. Also free car park a real bonus for location and so convienient. Great shower in bathroom and as good as you get anywhere. All in all enjoyed 3 night stay with location short distance to walk to castle and park for dogs.Would recommend for budget conscious comfortable accommodation

Wonderful welcome and hospitality despite my very late unscheduled arrival. Beautifully clean and maintained rooms in a lovely location. Loved the service. As there was a mixup with the booking the people at the guest house simply adjusted it to match our needs. Loved that staff was firendly and made us welcome. They even kept pur belongings safe the next day, after check out while we were in town. Really nice breakfast as well. Would love to go back if in the area. Good value for money.

Location was excellent being far enough from the M6 motorway to be quiet & near enough the city centre for a quick visit. Great stopping off point for a long journey from South England to North of Scotland.
