  We stayed in Beijing at Xiao Yuan Alley Courtyard Hotel for 3 nights. It is lovely small hotel in Chinese style. It is very friendly, pleasant, comfortable and cute! It is situated in an old Beijing district Hutong, which is probably the only bastion of traditional Chinese climate left. The taxi from the airport to the hotel cost us 70 yuans (according to a taximet - Featuring charming, ultra-helpful English-speaking staff; the Xiao Yuan Alley hotel provides comfortable beds and good facilities, with a superbly located downtown hutong (Beijing alley) location, sensibly priced organized tours (if you wish) and excellent and very reasonably priced food available inside and nearby outside the hotel. And it's a very affordable place. I very much want to stay at this hotel again. I get happy just thinking about it. Highly recommend.

  We arrived in Beijing at 1am in the morning but due to difficulties with the taxi driver finding the street this hotel was on we didn't actually check in until 2.30am.   The staff was fabulous and helpful, speaking fluent English and having lots of information for the travels around the area. The staff was the highlight of my trip to Beijing! Hens, the desk manager was simply the best ever!!! So wonderfully helpful in every aspect of traveling in the city and area. The hotel has also a very cosy bar/restaurant area, mainly used for breakfast, and one or two computers are available if you need to use the internet.   Hotel was near the temple of heaven and close to a metro station so that was very convenient. Rooms were clean. Staff was friendly but spoke hardly any English. There was a problem with the booking but finally the staff solved this in a proper way.
