Being temporarily disabled I was more than pleased to see hand rails in the shower. I feel there should be at least one in EVERY shower every where. The Alfred has been our favored place to stay for many years and never fails to disappoint except for once when there were no vacancies and that was our fault. Plenty of roomy parking is also a big plus. The room was lovely, felt like home for the night and the staff were friendly. Would always choose to stay there again if I were I were in Ballarat overnight.

Quiet rooms, given that it was close to the highway. Bed was comfortable. Clean linen as expected. The room was clean, comfortable and very Sixties. The management was very helpful in retrieving my room key which I inadvertently left in a taxi. Room where we stayed was lovely and quiet, slept well and nice hot shower and soft towels. It was good value for money. Friendly Hosts. Wonderfully quiet. we were given a room away from the traffic noise. Clean and comfortable room Friendly staff. Good size room and clean. Value for money. Good service. Great value. That there was a vacancy. That I could order a breakfast which was delicious. It was quiet and friendly. The tv was new and great to watch. The heater on wheels was great. Location within drive to local attractions yet not noisy. Bed was reasonably comfortable. comfortable,decent size t.v. Pool ok. big room. nothing. The main thing we dislike is that we cant get accommodation like the Alfred everywhere we go. we had room 18 this time and looked forward to lazing on the couch watching tv in comfort prior to going to bed - BUT. alas the couch should be in the rubbish tip. It had a fixed board under the cushions and it was impossible to sit in comfort, our first complaint after staying at the Alfred for many years. we will continue to stay there BuT will check the couch prior to booking as it was really passed using. the way it was. Minimum cutlery & crockery in the room; microwave supplied, but nothing to eat food with/on. Without a car it was a bit too far from Wendourie Lake Ballarat where my family lives. When I have a car, I would certainly book here again. nothing. nothing. The shower screen door was old and difficult to open and close. The old heater by the sink should be replaced. The mattress was too hard. I woke up with a sore back and stiff neck. Stayed for 6 nights and the cleaning was minimal. Very uncomfortable sofa seating,hand basin was in main part of room in area where tea making facility and non in bathroom. Room was very cold on arrival and heating inadequate ,we approached owners and said they would look at but did not,so needless to say we were quite cold ,. a bit far from town centre. The reception on booking in and the lack of honesty about advice sent earlier regarding change of arrival date . The fact that this was accepted by other motels in the course of our travels and completely denied as happening made this look like a cash grab which was not appreciated . mix up re tariff where they did not want to honour confirmed rate. old room not worth the money. noisy, bed was terrible.
