great place to stay,lovely staff ,good food.nice well decorated rooms,a real oldie worldie feel about the place.great views from our room could have sat in the window all day watching the world go by.tea,coffee,chocolate bottled water and bisciuts supplied in the room.easy ferry ride over to plymouth.great location to explore either by car or walking.
Our expectations were low and we were pleasantly surprised at how nice our room and bath were.One waitress especially nice going above and beyond to get us directions to Plymouth.

The staff were really helpful. The location was beautiful and we had an amazing view over the river. We ate there the first night and the food was really good, of a high standard with lots of choice of dishes.

Rather quirky manager who turned out to be extremely nice but who looked at us as crazy when we asked for help with our luggage, and a few other "extras".
The location, perfect for the ferry,is otherwise fairly isolated.
The room was dated and wasn't the cleanest, dead flies and a spider on the windowsill. We were told we had the best room, dual aspect but the flagpole is right next to the window and the ropes banged against it all night, very noisy.
The pub closed too early for us on a Saturday night (10pm) so wouldn't recommend to young uns.
Rooms were perhaps alittle to overfurnished with cushions.
Unfortunate problem resolved by finding another B&B for us for one night. Our confirmed booking dates from letsbookhotel.com had either not been received or recorded.
