the room was very comfortable. Clean and friendly, tried to book again but were fully booked....thst was a shame. The friendly comfortable atmosphere.Location and room facilities. We stayed in a four poster room, very comfortable with spotless bathroom. Great homely atmosphere in a good location. The town is charming, with lovely shops, and is a good base for touring. In the middle of the village, relaxing atmosphere. Lovely big room with enourmous bed and jacuzzi bath. Friendly staff, excellent food, warm and comfortable bar.nice and relaxed. This is a lovely old style English hotel right in the centre of a charming town with an excellent restaurant. Great value at the discounted rate but suspect full rates are much higher. Would recommend though for somewhere with a lot of character. We thought most of the staff provided a very good service and appeared to be happy. The food was very good with one exception (see below). Good service, excellent large rooms, and enjoyable dining. The atmosphere was very pleasant and charming.Central position. Great Breakfast. Comfortable accomodation, good food, friendly and helpful staff. Staff colite and courteous. Food very good.the food was excellent. The Hotel has a country flavour and a hunting artistic theme which is colourful and refreshing. There was a family atmosphere and the staff were good when I wanted help in finding a doctor on Sunday. Thedining room and reception room with fire are impressive. Food good.central position, room small but excelent shower and comfortable bed, excellent breakfast and efficient service. pleasant staff. and comfortable bar. Food was excellent better than expected. Nice bar and verypleasant waitress.Location, central in the market town. friendly staff; good atmosphere. the staff were very helpful. location, staff, bar.Food was very good and very nice surroundings, good sized room and nicebathroom. The bar area was very pleasant and very relaxing. The food was excellent however we could have managed a whole mushroom at breakfast instead of half everything else good quality. location and bar area. The room was very nice and most of the hotel was beautifully decorated. The surrounding countryside and the town. Nice enough room if overpriced. The port. It took 20 minutes to have our order taken for the evening meal. The menu was good but there was little change to the menu from night to night so after staying a few nights it was difficult to choose new options. breakfast was undercooked. No car park, although public parking is only a minute away. The food was good, but a limited menu which did not change from day to day. Husband opened the bedroom window and could not get in shut completely so we heard the clock strike throughout the night. My room has obviously had a smoker staying in it previously and so at first there was a residual smell of stale smoke. the menue in the bistro could have been a bit more varied, although the food itself was very good. The kipper portion served on its own at breakfast was so small that two mouthfulls was all you got. Compared to the other breakfasts, which were of generous portions, the kipper was a disappointment. Full menu not available in the bar, I would loosen up the bar and bistro dining into one gastro pub area,. Jacuzzi feature on bath did not work. the mattress on the bed was uncomfortable. length of time to wait to check in. There sometimes seemed to be few staff about at reception and the fire doors are heavy for the elderly to open however not impossible.room was tiny and bathroom very small but functional. high price. Slightly inflexible on food times.Considering check-in 3pm we were notable to order snack on arrival as food orders closed at 2pm!. tooth mug in bathroom was dirty; cobwebs on lightshade; table in sitting area sticky. would have been helpful to have some soap and bubble bath in the room. Also a cd player in the room would be an idea.menu was sometimes poor in that several items were not available . if they are not available they should change the menu and offer something different. Over Bath Shower broken, kept falling off wall. One of the radiators didnt work in the bedroom and one night it was -5making it a tad chilly in the room. The bathroom smellies were verysparse (enough for 1 only). And would prefer a duvet as opposed tosheets. And the lad would have liked fluffy slippers but even I saythats going a bit far. Finally Car parking was a bit of a problemalthough I realise its out of the hotels hands. We booked a superior room for a special birthday weekend with our family nearby. The picture on the internet showed a 4 posterbed and a large jaccuzi bath, however this is not what we got, ending up in a bed smaller than we have at home and a bath much smaller which I physically could not fit in,again smaller than our airbath at home.I feel the advertising was misleading.Unable to get a sandwich or any food at 1410 on Sunday afternoon-kitchen closed.Friends had lunch and left early because of very slow service. Most members of the staff made us feel unwelcome and that they would rather not be there. No parking. Noisy at night. Hugely annoyed that I believed letsbookhotel.comhad taken payment, rather than just authenticated my debit card. There is no parking for the hotel. The room we were in had dirty laundry outside the room when we arrived and checked out which we had to climb over. The room was hot and it could of benefited us if there was a fan to use, so lack of sleep.
