The Knoll Guesthouse - Fotos
Lo que la gente dice
The Knoll was full of original, eccentric Victorian-style features and
was a great place to stay. The room was small but comfortable, and the
whole house was very warm and welcoming. Barry was a great host and left
me to my own thing when needed, whilst also being available to help and
advise when necessary. I was out most of the time when visiting, and was
mostly in the hotel just in the late evenings. todo comentarios »
The guesthouse although old added to the ambience of the building. The proprietor could not have been more friendly, courteous and helpful he was a lovely man. The rooms were clean and all you needed for your stay. The breakfast perfect again excellent value and you couldnt have got better in a first class hotel. Will stay there again should I have to stay in Newport.
Owner gladly accepted our late arrival (midnight on a Friday) although we were supposed to arrive at 10:00pm (which was already late for a check-in).
Barry was very friendly and gave us clear instructions how to arrive and find in the room.
Room was very cosy and clean. Definitely a recommended guesthouse!!!.
gorgeous Victorian home, very comfortable, lovely guest lounge with free WiFi. Include the breakfast its cheap and very nicely cooked. Nice restaurants close by for lunch and dinner or catch the bus into the local area. Barry the owner/host is a font of information and a wonderful host.
Friendly welcome. Helpful with directions for visiting nearby Caerphilly castle. Room lovely and bright. Breakfast was...ok. The owner said he was a trained chef so I guess I expected something a bit special for breakfast but it was just your bog standard full English. Nice, but...
The KNoll was great and Barry an excellent host to all that stayed -
getting maps, ordering delivered takeaway, even making hot lemon tea for
a guest with a cold. Warm and lovely atmosphere. Very clean bathrooms
and rooms and decent bed. All in all a very good stay.
A most welcoming and charming guest house. Excellent breakfast. We stayed for one night as part of a rail trip around England and Wales. Newport itself is not a beautiful city by any means, but we found a good Italian restaurant about a 400 yard walk away.
I arrived early - direct from a flight in Saudi, so got there at 11:30am to be greated by Barry (the owner) who told me the room was ready. The warm welcome continued throughout my stay. Wonderful breakfast cooked fresh to order. Home comforts.
The manager was an absolute delight - a gentleman in every sense and nothing was too much trouble. The hotel was fairly basic but perfectly clean and comfortable. At £45 including breakfast it was excellent value for money.
Barry was a great host, and has maintained this old converted house very well. The house was very well done with renovated rooms. All the facilities were very clean and nice. I'd visit again!.
A friendly and polite welcome, all the facilities shown and explained to us, comfortable clean and tidy room, good location, would recommend this to anyone, great value for money.
The character of the house and Barry the host went out of his way with maps and directions to guide us to the best places to visit. The queens hotel in town is a must visit!.
The host was very friendly and helpful. He recommended a lovely local Italien restaurant. We felt very relaxed and at home. Lovely vegetarian breakfast on request.
It really felt like home from home! Barry is great at his job, felt really welcome! Good atmosphere, recommend the breakfast to finish off a lovely stay! /.

the homely feel of the guest house,we were greeted and shown to our room.our suitcase was carried up for us. very friendly people.breakfast was outstanding.
The guesthouse is well furnished and the host, Barry, is a wealth of knowledge, very friendly and responds quickly to any requests made of him.
The host was lovely, helpful without being in your face. The room and bathroom were tiny but comfortable. Would stay there again.
Knoll Guest House is a great location for the Welsh Snooker Open. Nice
friendly atomsphere. Hope to be able to visit again.
A friendly and helpful host, small but clean comfortable room, excellent cooked breakfast and well furnished public areas.
Barry the owner showed us to our room gave us any information and then
left us alone to come and go as we pleased.

Very pleasant interior and comfortable.

Very friendly and welcoming hotel, which was excellent value for money.
Barry, the owner was simply amazing. Room was clean and comfortable.
Very firendly staff and good service pre arrival and during stay.
The owner is the most friendly and helpful person you could meet.
comfortable, easy commute, friendly staff, convenient.
Old style charm and service. Excellent value.
Ambience, Barry,(owner, manager),location.
One of the best hotel choice of my life.
Very friendly atmosphere.
A great find.
Personal attention and friendly staff.
enjoyde very much would visit again.
It felt like being at home.
Friendly staff,location.
Cheap but pleasant.
Friendly welcome.
Barry the owner is very pleasant and helpful the breakfast staff were efficient. The rooms are clean and tidy but the furniture is mismatched but dosent really make a difference the beds are comfy and the bathroom was fully equipped even though small. The breakfast is a £5 supplement and not really that big but it fills a gap all in all not bad at all.
It is clean and warm and the rooms are quote spacious a little refurbishment will be excellent.Owner is very friendly and polite.
Kind service
Comfortable bed
Good breakfast
Good value for money.
Friendly owner and reasonably priced at £50 for a single room.
It was different to the usual bland business inn.
friendly host.
Owner's positive attitude and promptness to see to our problems. Decoration with a vintage twist.
The breakfast seemed very expensive, considering I would only be having
the continental and not the full - therefore I wasn't happy to pay
that price and had to look elsewhere for breakfast. It would be a great
idea to have two levels of breakfast cost - one for continental, one for
full English.

the windows in the bathroom are original to the building, which is nice to look at but makes the bathroom freezing in the Autumn/Winter.
My son said the place smelt like old people...was a bit musty and closed in. Could have done with some room fresheners or open windows. Having said that, it was not offensive, just quaint and quirky.
There were problems with the television reception which varied from room to room. My single room, had no reception at all. This needs sorting out, but did not really spoil our stay..
I can't think of anything!.
The lack of an elevator would make carrying heavy suitcases a bit of a pain. In the twin room we stayed in, there was a slight lack of maneuvering room, so opening up a shared suitcase was a bit difficult. But that's just a very minor problem that didn't bother me very much.
none.
Pub up the road was closed for renovations, but there's plenty more!.
Nothing.
No faults at all.
The wifi reception in the bedroom was poor so we used the sitting room instead. This worked well.
Some traffic noise (although earplugs are among the many comfort amenities on offer at no charge).
Nothing.
Decor and furniture was a little dated but serviceable all the same.
The wifi reception was patchy (though it was free!).
Room was 10 - 15 minutes away from the Newport Train Station but it is a hike up hill.. So, if you are carrying heavy bags.. best bet would be to hire a taxi (approx. 5 pounds).
Street parking, single room a little cramped.
Nothing.
Bed was a little firm, but this is just a personal preference.
Nothing really.
Nothing.
Nothing.
Not much to do around the area as it is in the middle of an housing estate.
Very basic and dated accommodation. Bathroom was cramped and room was
small. Breakfast not included in price.
The rain but that wasn't The Knoll's fault.
breakfast was in my view expensive however it was good.
Th property could use some updating.
Parking on the street can be a problem.
Not properly ventilated room, single blazed windows, a lot of traffic noise and unsatisfactory heating. Poor breakfast portions.
