The Lodge In The Vale - Fotos
Lo que la gente dice
I thought this hotel was lovely, comfortable with friendly & welcoming staff. The continental breakfast was really nice with quality produce, we were very impressed and it made a refreshing change to a cooked breakfast. We would definitely stay again & would recommend the hotel as a good base for climbing or walking. We didn't mind the fact the fact there wasn't a bar as such or restaurant if you want that then don't book to stay, there is a pub down the road, due to the snow wee didn't. todo comentarios »
The lodge in the Vale was very clean and the staff including the gorgeous dog were very helpful and friendly, the fact they didn't have facilities to cook meals didn't bother us as they recommend the pub up the road where you get 10percent off your meal if you stay at the lodge!
We loved the continental breakfast and its only ten min drive to keswick!.
The members of staff were friendly and helpful. There was an excellent, plentiful continental breakfast in a dining-room with great views. The rooms were comfortable and immaculately cleaned each day. The lodge makes a great base for exploring the Lake District and we would be happy to stay there again.
Loved the location - so close to great walks.
The room was very warm when cold outside which was great! The staff were very smiley and always greeted you on coming and going. The bed was very comfortable and the shower was great. The local pub was close enough to walk to and provided great food.
Location - lovely local walks. Coffee Shop - nice coffee, food and a
beer too. Rooms - clean and modern. Lovely wee places to sit around
the hotel to read. 10% off at the local pub for meals which were very
good! Thirlmere lake is beautiful and peaceful. Staff very helpful
and pleasant.
Room was lovely, very comfortable. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Views are spectacular, the hotel is great as it has its own bar which is lovely as it's not in the hustle and bustle of town. Perfect if you want a relaxing drink after a hard day on the hills.
1. Superb peaceful location away from yet near Keswick and Grasmere.
2. Excellent walking trail in the backyard with awesome views of valley, streams and waterfalls - a pleasant surprise discovery which could have been missed if not specifically enquired!.
The warm, friendly efficiency of the staff, the range of the breakfast provision, the overall relaxed atmosphere, the comfort of the bed (Room 5) and the fact that "everything worked".
The lodge is a lovely place to stay, its the second time for our family, it is very clean and the facilities are better than staying in a premier inn or travel lodge.
What a lovely setting and a fantastic little hotel.
The breakfast was first class.
The discount with the local hotel for food was a nice surprise too!.
The price, location and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was really good continental style with great local ham!.
highly recommended hotel to stay in ,staff are very friendly and helpful ,very clean nice environment ,very good location thank you.
The accommodation was good. Nice building, with modern decor. Good location for walking. It has a very relaxed atmosphere.
Pleanty of tea, coffee and milk available in the room as well as a Good continental Breakfast available in the lounge area.
Modern open well lit style of the hotel, very comprehensive continental breakfast. Generally comfortable rooms.
We loved how we could bring our dog along too, as well as staying in a nice, modern, comfortable place.
Friendly and welcoming staff. Good breakfast even though not a cooked option.
Rooms well equipped.
Very clean, dog friendly, very pleasant staff, well laid out and a very good base to tour the area.
The hotel and staff are great very welcoming and very friendly always stopped to talk to us.
The fabulous location, simple, reasonably clean, very quiet, friendly staff. good parking.
Pleasant area away from busier locations, however need to have your own transport.
The young lady working on reception was very helpful
The rooms were comfortable.

It all from the setting to the simply fuss free breakfast, great value too!.

Gorgeous location and the Lodge is superb - very modern. Food excellent.
Excellent experience, we extended our stay by two days it was so good.
Value for money, far better than the 4* hotel we stayed a night before.
Very clean basic accommodation, ideal location, would stay again.
great design, staff helpful, clean, great walks, dog friendly.
A brand new and very clean hotel and in a strategic location.
The location and the room was simple but what we wanted.

Almost Everything.
really good.
Stunning location. Modern rooms. Informal hotel set up with self catering breakfasts. Nice coffee lounge open all day. Free car park.
Located in a calm and peaceful middle of nowhere, amazing view over the mountains.
Clean, friendly, easy going. Good breakfast of its kind.
The place was cozy little place and amenities were nice.
Good sized room
Clean
Good breakfast facilities.
Friendly staff, excellent breakfast.
It was very clean and friendly.
The look of the lodge.
most things.
It was a very scenic area and very nice stay. The rooms were a decent size, breakfast was good and we were made to feel welcome and at home. Each morning the staff would say "good morning" and they would be happy to help. The beds were comfortable and the storage space etc was good.
Nothing really only thing the shower cubicle a tad small but this wasn't a problem for me.
There wasn't anything we didnt like but a couple of things that other people might dislike are the room was right on the road and the noise of the sheep! Neither of these bothered us!.
Parking under the trees was not great as the car was covered with tree sap.
2 things which I think let the Lodge down slightly are the lack of even some hot food at breakfast, although the continental breakfast was very nice. Also, with it being so new, and clearly well insulated from the outside elements, I was surprised that there wasn't better soundproofing between rooms!.
Shower was a wee bit too small but that is the only criticism.
Shortage of parking space, lack of lounge area - and leaving!.
There was nothing we didn't like.
The hotel promotes the local pub (the Kings Head) and gives you 10% off the food at this pub (it appears to be owned by the same group). We weren't overly impressed by the food at the pub. We made a complaint which got ignored by the waitress.
We stayed in room 3 which was very close to the road as was rooms 1 & 2. These should be avoided.
Some road noise - could do with triple glazing. Size of rooms on the small size but OK for a one or two night stop but perhaps not for a week.
Not much to choose from food wise, we had to go into Keswick for this and because we got there on the Sunday there was limited places open to eat out at.
Slightly isolated for other bars/restaurants (need to drive).
Very limited mobile phone signal.
Labrador didn't like the polished floors. Tough for him eh!.
The hotel isn't very good if you have a small child who needs to stay in a cot as once the cot is up you don't have much room to swing a cat.if your going out for the day and want a full English you will need to do as the hotel says and go to the pub down the road ( the kings head ) and check in there for one. Also if you have a small child that needs to take a bath only thing you can do is use the sink as our room only had a shower.
The bedroom was rather hot as it was very sunny. The bed was rather firm.
maybe too close to the road.
Unable to turn off bathroom towel rail which made the room too hot.
Shower only adequate.
Lack of control over room heating.
nothing.
too hot, windows only opened a little, well insulated,
many flies in dinning room.
Breakfast options were very limited.
One of the walls needed painted it was scuffed.
The room was a bit on the small side.
full rate not competative with other B/B in same area.
no cooked breakfast.
Room too hot. They really needed to go to Tescos and buy a fan given this is (was) a prolonged period of cat 3 hot weather.
Just one thing..but its not something I would expect anyway. In this hot weather a duvet on the bed is a bit too much and it would have been nice to have a top sheet . (but I always take my own anyway!).
Noise from traffic on main road close by. Double room very small. Room stuffy when sun on window in the evening (west facing). Housekeeping slipshod - room not cleaned to a good standard.
Definitely not an hotel for you if you're not an early bird: no way to hang a "do not disturb" sign, and fairly insisting cleaning staff.
No kettle nor complimentary coffee/tea in the room.
These are just things that would be improvements.
Traffic noisse reduction but clearly this is beyond scope of hotel.
Cooked breakfast.
Real English beer in the bar. CHILLED bottled ales would be welcome after along day in the fresh air. With young children you cant always go out again. Failing that access to a ffridge to store own.
The place did not have a lift and we faced lot of hassle in getting the luggage to the first floor through the stairs...
Location not as it seemed on the website.
Tv did not work, satellite problem. No air in room which was stuffy and compact.
It was much too hot! We were still hot with windows wide open and this is due to the hotel having a general temperature control, we asked at reception and if they lower it, then they have to lower the whole hotel? Something like that. The beds and pillows weren't very comfortable either. Rooms quite small but acceptable. Only continental breakfast.
The fact there wasn't a cooked breakfast on site. The price.
shower doors not closing fully.
The wifi and tv signal was poor and the rooms were very warm at night even with the window wide open and no duvet.
The extractor fan in the bathroom was also very loud.
It is quite remote and dark outside therefore difficult to walk around after sun set.
