A very old inn, of real character, with an intriguing history and attractive name; a place that has been through a lot in its time, and with a touch of eccentricity that we loved. A genuinely friendly atmosphere with spacious accommodation in a new timber building set apart from the inn. The staff we met knew their stuff and had a sense of belonging and they were a delight: not in any way over bearing or going through the motions. The wine and the main meal and breakfast were excellent. todo comentarios »
Friendly staff, quiet location, good food (including real chips!), good beer, room 4 was a good size with a beautiful view - wish the weather had been good enough to sit out on the balcony. Quality bed linen, towels and bath robes also quality toiletries. Very clean and lovely bathroom. Real glasses in room and bathroom - not plastic as we got in a more expensive hotel!.
The accommodation in the separate 'Wooden House' was excellent, well worth booking the superior room. The Pub is owner run and they have a real interest in ensuring their guests are happy. The food they serve is delicious, not fussy, just really good quality ingredients all locally sourced.
Food was excellent, the inn's
Setting in the landscape was superb, local beers and ciders were first class, breakfast could not be faulted and as for the 'Zakopane' accommodation
With wet room, sheer luxury with guest dressing towels after
A hard day tramping around Hay-on-Wye.
A beautiful old village pub (low beamed ceilings and flagstone floors) with excellent modern accommodation. Simon and his staff were welcoming and very helpful.
The meals were great, both evening and breakfast. The best T bone we have had in years!.
Unbeatable location and views in Golden Valley - classic English countryside. Incredible quality of the adjacent accommodation - forest hut style.
Authentic old inn - lovely staff, good food and friendly but nevertheless efficient service.
The position was excellent. The room very good with a superb bathroom,
our room had a door out onto a small terrace with table and chairs and
the beautiful hens came to visit..lovely...The food was also very good
and the staff friendly.
We had a fantastic time. We wanted relaxing/excellent food - best
steak ever!! And puddings to die for. Room was warm & welcoming -
which when it was tipping down was wonderful. Like being in a log cabin
in the Swiss Alps.
A totally unique accommodation, spacious room with the biggest wet room we have ever seen. The staff were very friendly & helpful. A very relaxed atmosphere in the Inn during dinner & breakfast.
busy local's pub. Staff were friendly and helpful. Food was good. We would recommend it for a drink and a meal. The outlook from our room was pretty including the chickens running free in the garden.
Room was spacious and well built, the main part of the Inn olde worldy. Nice welcome and friendly approach. Evening meals were very good. Bonus of a music group on first evening.
The room was warm and comfortable despite the awful weather outside. It was also quite spacious so I had room to stretch and do yoga if I wanted to. Liam was quite a hit, too.
Staff very friendly and helpful and the bedroom and bathroom were spotless. The choice of menu was good and the food very well prepared.
Thanks to Monica for all her help.
We loved the unique room in the eco friendly house with entertaining bantams outside .The food in the pub was excellent and the staff very friendly .
The relaxed atmosphere and we thought our twin room was excellent even if it did face the car park, we could watch the chickens from the side door, we loved it.
Chalet style accommodation overlooking fields and hills was a delight. The pub was charming and the restaurant was of high quality.
Room was very comfortable set in a nice location.
Food in the pub restaurant was to high standard. friendly staff.
Pandy is a totally relaxing place to stay, lovely scenery, food and people, in clean and luxurious accommodation.
Lovely accommodation. Excellent food and very friendly service. A little gem in the depths of the countryside.
Lovely comfortable room, very friendly staff, great food, lovely cosy atmosphere in a very old country pub!.
Embracing village life.Relaxing. Historic building. Easy access to Golden Valley and Hay on Wye. Good food.
The staff were really friendly, the room was lovely and the food in the restaurant was excellent.
Lovely accommodation. Friendly and obliging staff. Super location and good food.
The log cabin with country view. The free range chickens. The food.
Very friendly excellent facilities and restaurant.Room superb.
Very comfortable room and good olde-worlde pub atmosphere.
Very comfortable room and bed.
Good food.
Friendly staff.
Great beer, fantastic food and excellent service.
The lodges.
Everything.
accommodation food carpark.
the rooms were very comfortable and warm.
Lovely old pub, pleasant garden, modern rooms.
Leaving after one night only.
Nothing.
No negatives!.
Nothing is perfect but the things that were wrong are too small
to mention.
Could have done with a light over our door when trying to get in when
dark and a better path as was slabs & you couldnt see in the
dark/mud from constant rain!.
Nothing.
Accommodation was clean and bed was comfortable, the bathroom was large and modern. An easy chair would have been welcome to sit and read in. The thing that would put us off returning was the lack of soundproofing in the room. We were constantly aware every time someone walked across the room above us or next door, when they were speaking.or going to the loo in the middle of the night. It made us self concious and unable to relax completely.
Bathroom/wet room huge but lacked anywhere to place items down! View from the front room a bit tacky but the hens added interest!.
The food was quite meat based and rich. I did enjoy it but found it a bit much .
Nothing.
Nothing.
the only minor quibble was that the breakfast seemed a bit haphazard.
Nothing.
't couldn't however get a phone signal and had to drive into Hay on Wye to get one which was a nuisance. However they did tell us we could have used their payphone if we needed to.
Access and car parking a little unkempt.
The water in the sink took ages to flow away.
Having to walk from the Room to the Restaurant both for Dinner and breakfast in the pouring rain!.
lack of mobile phone signal.
in a ground floor room some noise can be heard from the room above. however we received no room service during our short stay although this was offered in the early evening of our second night. this did not matter too much for us but is the first place we have ever stayed where the beds had not been made up and the bathroom facilities not attended to; ie replacement shower gel etc. Breakfast was good but served rather erratically and only one cerial (muesli) offered.
We were told there was no record of our booking. Waited half an hour while a room was cleaned. The rooms advertised as having "patios with views over the Golden Valley" turned out to be a smallish room with no patio and views of the car park and two smelly gas tanks. Big disappointment all round.
