Lo que la gente dice
The staff are very very friendly.
Clean and comfortable rooms.
Excellent budget hotel.
Would stay here again and again (and recommend others).
It's a short walk from the train station and close to the city centre. Never let the distance worry you - I would stay here at half the price (for same standard accommodation) and pay 6/7 quid for the cab. It's about 30 minute walk into town (or less than 10 minutes by bus).
Close to shops, nice restaurants and coffee shops.

Breakfast was outstanding. We ate dinner there also and the menu is varied. There is something that will appeal to everyone. The portions were enormous which only matters because the food was delicious! The room is noisy but is very clean and stocked with all amenities. Very close to train station, and to the botanical gardens which are worth a visit, and takes about 15 minute easy walk to center of Cambridge. The owners are delightful.
The staff was extremely helpful and pleasant. When we complained about some noise they took care of it in literally less than a minute. It was one of the cleanest and more spacious rooms I have stayed in the UK. The fact that it was over a pub was also really nice. The food in the pub was amazing. I remember having read another comment mentioning that the food was so good they didn't have to go and eat elsewhere. It was the same for us.
We booked a triple room but didn't really know what to expect. We were well impressed with the space and the beds were so comfortable. We had a very peaceful nights sleep. Staff were very friendly and when we ordered food they were extremely prompt with the service they offered. Great location for the station and in walking distance to the bars, shops and colleges. We will definitely be stopping there again.
Friendly staff, nice breakfast, free parking, clean room.
It gave us a sense of pub accommodations on our first trip to the UK from the USA.
Staff communicated to us a warning about live music until midnight on our Saturday evening stay. We appreciated the outreach. It was definitely something we could hear in the room we were staying in, but not at all a bother to us, given our schedule.
Clean, newly refurbished hotel. or you may say an inn. The rooms are nicely lit and the facilities you needed are all there.
more of a luxury kind of stay right on top of a pub. I like it a lot because you can either walk to Cambridge or take a bus out of Cambridge for other activities.
Pub is awesome and the breakfast is good.
Easy to find, good parking. Room was perfectly acceptable, very warm, large clean bed, cupboard with hangers and a spare duvet, iron and hair dryer. Good lighting, bathroom also had a really good, hot shower and were given two nice towels each.
Atmosphere of pub was very nice and comfortable, food also good.
Very spacious room. Right next to large grocery store. Walking distance from the station and 15-20 minutes walk from the town center. Its part of a pub but has a separate entrance so you don't get disturbed and never have to walk through the pub. Very good value for money considering its in Cambridge.
Nice room for our three. Good staffs are in the bar which is also the reception. Guest rooms and the bar are apart, so you can still enjoy yourselves in the room. Big bathroom is provided in each room. Tasty breakfast is served in the morning with considerable size!.
my room was big and comfortable.
The manager was very helpful in sorting out my internet access.
the breakfast was hearty.
It is only 5 minutes walk from the railway station. The manager rang me to check whether I preferred a twin or a double. Nice touch, I felt.
Room was spacious and spotlessly clean. Really thoughtful to have individual kits of make-up pads, emery board and cotton buds for each guest. Never had that before with more expensive hotels. The food was excellent and really good value for money.
We stayed in a room above the bar which was a good size and did not have any problems with the live music. Full English breakfast was very good and generous. free off road parking which is a plus and is easy walking distance to the city centre.
Near to station, large room. Very helpful staff, took us to the room and
explained how things worked. Free parking this is a plus over my other
choice as they charge £15 per night. Next door to small supermarket so I
could buy my newspaper.
Room was comfortable and warm (very cold weather). Close to railway station and not far from city centre and botanic gardens. Despite busy road outside, the room was quiet. Excellent cooked breakfast. Staff all friendly & helpful.
Comfortable, very well-equipped rooms and friendly, helpful staff. Good location and quiet, despite being conveniently placed for city. Free wifi in rooms, too. Parking was a plus as well - not all Cambridge hotels offer this.
Great place, relaxed atmosphere, friendly bar staff, verrrry hot water, spotlessly clean, 5 min walk to Cambridge town centre, car park, great full english breakfast. Look forward to staying again next time we visit Cambridge.
Great location for exploring cambridge, if you dont mind walking. The closer you get to the centre of cambridge the more you will pay for b&b , This was good value for what we paid. Will use this place again soon.
Spacious rooms, large comfy bed, large bath and bathroom. All very clean.
Free parking and Wifi a bonus.
The food cooked on the premises was excellent- and plenty of it.
The price.for Cambridge was very good.
What a little gem of a pub with rooms. Made a late decision to stay here but was well pleased with the accommodation and food on offer. Private free parking so close to the City Centre was also a great boon.
This was an unpretencious pub, not trying to be anything special. There were excellent free parking facilities, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Adjacent to public transport and railway station.
The Earl is near to the bus, train and an easy walk into the city.
Rooms small but adequate, free car park. Good beds hot water, En suite.
Sufficient accommodation for weekend and overnight stays.
Great location, close to train station and 15 minute walk to city
centre. Room 3 large and comfortable. Staff friendly and helpful. Good
breakfast with unlimited tea/coffee. Free car parking.
Room fine; large comfy bed, bright, well equipped, quiet room despite being close to the car park/road. staff helpful and helpful. good supply of toiletries and drink making sachets.
The room was lovely, clean and very comfortable. The food was wonderful and the staff was friendly and helpful. Great location for walking distance to all of the sights in Cambridge.
Everything was as advertised. Everyone was friendly and helpful. It was a convient location for traveling by train. the outside was pretty with the flowers and hanging baskets.
It is a great English pub with rooms for rent, a lot of atmosphere and friendly staff. Good English cooking, very nice rooms, comfortable beds, and double glazing in the windows!.
Breakfast is great and free. Room is very clean and tidy. B&B is located near the train station which is convenient to those travelers who tend to departure at early morning.
It was 5 minutes walk from Train Station and a 15 minute walk into town. Staff were extremely helpful and the home cooked food was very enjoyable. Would definately stay again.
Very conveniently located for the train station, and easy trip into town. Surprisingly quiet in the room given that it is adjacent to a pub. I dindn't hear anything.
best of both worlds traditional pub with bedrooms that match any in a 3 star hotel food excellent
cleanliness very good staff welcoming facilities in bedroom very good.
Great value for money, room was of good size and clean and tidy. All the staff we meet were very plesant as were locals in bar. Loved the breakfast. Parking was free.
Location, amenities, friendliness of staff, nice spacious room and bathroom both very clean. Parking facilities. Accessibility to centre of Cambridge.
Spacious room with comfortable beds. A few mins. walk to the Botanial Gardens (worth a visit) and city centre. Price included a full English breakfast.
A really friendly pub with large, well appointed bedrooms. A good selection of beers and a varied food menu offering excellent prices and quality.
Good location. Room was nice and clean. Wifi access in pub but did'nt seem to work in the room. Full English breakfast was included which was good.

Excellent quality real ale, well stored, well served.
Staff very helpful and friendly - food is good and plentiful - beer is very drinkable !
Beds are great - nice and firm - no saggy matresses here.
Large room suitable for ourselves and 15year old granddaughter.
Good evening meals available.
Walking distance of city centre
Free car parking.
Staff were incredibly professional and offered just the right level of service - efficient and friendly but left you alone to enjoy your stay.
The room was very clean and tidy and ideal to stay just away from the city centre,
The meals in the bar was good too. - A very friendly place.
- excellent value for money
- lovely breakfast
- comfy bed/ slept well
- good shower
- excellent parking
- good, central location
- nice pub.
Perfect place for a cheap place to stay that was excellent value for money. Very much worth it and would definitely stay there again! :D.
From moment we arrived and were meet by the friendly staff, we knew it would be pleasurable. It did not disappoint. Location is superb.
clean spacious rooms, easy access to all areas of Cambridge, staff helpful and friendly, plenty of choice on menu and scrummy breakfast!!.
Very nice staf and very helpful. To the city is a 20 minute walk.
Good breakfast and nice big room. Eating at the pub was very good.
Considering it's location it was very quiet. Rooms spacious & clean.
Breakfast was plentiful and good choice and served hot.
At last, a sensible room for a parent and 2 kids - 3 beds! Clean, comfortable room. Convenient location. Brilliant breakfast.
Good value for money, welcoming staff, good breakfast, comfortable and warm bedroom. Easy walking distance to town centre.
An unpretentious pub with plenty of parking and good pub food. A powerful shower and good sized room with comfortable bed.
The rooms were very comfortable & clean. Had tea/coffee making facilities and plenty of towels. I would go back again.
Walk through the bar to get in and out of the hotel.
The place was a little bit far from where I was going for my conference. Even so, I will still chose the Earl of Derby for my next visit in Cambridge.
We couldn't fault our stay.
This was a bit more expensive than the B&B we were at nearer to campus of Cambridge University.
Not much. It's just such a good stay.
Because the double bed was two singles pushed together (they didn't 'roll' apart mind, which I've experienced before) the duvet was a bit small for two people, meaning my partner and I spent the night sleepily battling for the sheet. I'd say put the spare on when you arrive, to save issue.
It would be nice if they could provide yogurt and cereal at breakfast as well as cooked food. But the cooked food was lovely all the same.
It is a little bit far from city center in Cambridge. But you can take buses to there where a bus stop is located at the other size of the road. However, you should check for the timetable.
you have to say it is very much a pub, with limited "Hotel" features, but that was absolutely fine.
If I had to find fault, it would be that the bathroom had no shelf to put things on, nowhere to put your towel whilst you were in the shower and the shower on/off control was on the far side, so you soaked yourself and the floor whilst trying to get in!.
Can't think of any.
Traffic noise, the room we had was facing the road and it was busy. Next
visit I will request a back room.
Minor point but the decor, especially in bathroom, is a bit tired. Build-up of ?soap under grip rails on bath looked a bit unpleasant.
what is there not to like?.
Only thing was we had some people who could not close doors without banging them shut. Bit of a pain at two in the morning ,but this is no reflection on the pub.
TV in room a bit small
Needs a clock in the room
A firmer pillow option.
Food that obviously came straight from frozen ready meal (the fish and chips) was not great.
Bit noisy in room due to live band but knew that was a possibility
before we went due to previous reviews. If we had been situated in the
separate block behind the pub that wouldn't have been an issue so if
we stay again would ask to be put there.
Breakfast poor but we had the continental so can't judge the cooked, plentiful coffee or tea.
There was nothing I did not like.
Pretty basic room, and hallways smelt slightly.
nothing untoward.
Nothing at all.
As its situated on the main road, experienced some noise from the traffic.
Nothing.
There was nothing I didn't like.
Room a little bit "frayed" round the edges.......but - when all is said and done, the blame has to go to past guests who have not respected the place as they should have done !.
Nothing. All was good -.
the weather which nobody can do anything about!!.
nothing.
Lots of building work going on around the area - nothing the hotel could do to change that though.
Noisy as our room was on main road side.
Nowhere in the shower to put soap.
