Comfortable, spacious and clean room. In spite of proximity to the railway line noise wasn't a problem. Hotel staff were friendly and helpful, and we enjoyed our stay.Rooms basic but clean and warm and comfortable. Staff friendly andhelpful. Bar has reopened and also the restaurant. Looking forward to mynext stay!. Nice friendly atmosphere, helpful staff. Clean and large rooms. Nice bar. polite staff happy to help. good value for money. Clean and quite. the staff were friendly, for the price the room and service was excellent however, one person working the bar and the phones and booking in cant be good, although no problems ourselves would imagine on a busy day the poor girl would be ran ragged. Good customer service very helpful, booked us a taxi. Bedding and towels were very clean, housekeeping knocked to see if we wanted anything.the staff were friendly, helpful and not in any way intrusive. the service and attention to detail. Relatively inexpensive. Staff were helpful. Comfortable room. Friendly staff. It's a cozy hotel, the hotel staff are very kind people. This year we were there for the twelft time. hotel staff and dining room very nice. quiet location, friendly staff. Breakfast was good and staff on reception polite and tried to be helpful. Good value for money - nice breakfast. The breakfast was ok. The rooms were clean and comfortable and perfectly adequate for the one night we wanted to stay. Lack of bar facilities was the only problem. Friendly, helpful staff. The room was clean. Im afraid that i cant think of anything positive to say other than the staff were friendly enough, but you could sense that there is a problem with moral @ the hotel at present.Cheap, friendly staff, reasonable food. Its location. Hotel staff and the towels. Did not like it at all - very noisy and breakfast was very poor would not recommend it. convenience for a family visit. Sorry, but it was dreadful. A bed to sleep on !!. Not very much. The breakfast only. The many doorways that you have to walk through to get to your room are very low. No good if you have back problems, the majority of doors were under 5` 5"! But thats part of the hotel charm.the meals menu was rather poor.but they have a temporary manager in there when i was there so there is room for improvement. Only one complaint! The constant banging of doors. Some guests not considerate and slamming doors on corridor. There was a problem with the swipe cards which opened the doors. This system didn't always work.shower in the room was a bit poor, very little water pressure but fine otherwise. the breakfast was continental although i read reviews that stipulated this, i would be very annoyed having not known and expecting a fried/english breakfast. Its a bit like a maze would not recommend to disabled. Carpets and furnishings are very old fashioned. No restuarant or bar. The fact it did not serve Full English Breakfast and that the bar and restaurant has recently been closed. I believe it is due to reopen at some point but there was no indication of when. No Bar or Restaurant facilities, only continental breakfast @ weekend. Unfortunately the hotel has ceased to provide an evening meal service and no longer provides a bar. carpet in room needs replacing dirty, needs decorating. lack of evening meal at weekends. A proper electric shower would have been better than a shower off the bath taps!!. Unfortunately, the resturant was not serving full menu at evening, no starters or desserts on offer, and only 4 choices of main course, and no red wine at the bar, it seems the Hotel changed hands since booking and this was not made clear before arrival, also no quiet beer garden away from noise of traffic and main road. Quite noisy. Yes the hotel is right next to a railway line so trains regularily go past your bedroom window. No shower with room and there was only cold water for a bath. Windows in room were not very good letting alot of noise and draft in. Accessibility by road. We chose the hotel because it had a bar. When we arrived back at the hotel at 10.00pm we were told the bar was not open and would not be for the foreseeable future. It appears the hotel is up for sale and the bar and restaurant have been closed for some time. We were not told this when we booked or when we first arrived at the hotel. Noise from adjacent rooms, dirty stairwells, insufficient staff on arrival with one person tending reception and a busy bar. The bar was closed the weekend we stayed there so we had to find somewhere to eat, we were not aware of this before booking or we would have found somewhere else to stay. the trains going past at all hours and the repair works on the tracks at night. It was only upon arrival that we found out the bar and resturant were now closed for use, very poor hotel information provided. Noise from the road and trains, needs refurbishment.Curtains hanging off the tracks, mirror on the floor not the wall, headboard was filthy velour material, couldn't stand to shower, had to shower on my knees due to the slanted ceiling/roof. The bed was hard, the tap dripped, cold water, tepid shower, no bath, no light bulb in bathroom, no radio/alarm, phone not working, only decaf coffee.it was rudown and seemed to be in administration. very grubby. My son dropped something that rolled under a bed, on lifting the bed I could see dirt and dust and litter. My wife had to have a luke warm bath as there was little hot water and there was no room to stand for a "hand held shower" due to a sloping ceiling. Reception charged my reservation card without asking me.Bathroom was dirty, hot water unreliable, beds so uncomfortable. 1 - location. Difficult to access, limited (on-road) parking. Limited facilities, e.g. - restaurants, etc., within easy reach of the hotel. 2. No evening meal facilities; breakfast not available until 08:00 (most people staying had to be away by 07:00-07:30). The hotel needs a good overhall, the cleanliness leaves a lot to be desired. On returning to the room we had no electicity and were moved to another room with others in my party being expected to share a bathroom with other guests. Staff were unhelpful, They got our booking wrong, The breakfast was burnt, The hotel was very hot and I would never stay there again ever. The new management of this hotel has got so much work to do to bring the rooms and public areas up to even a descent standard, bedding was blood stained, the rooms had not been cleaned properly, the edges of the carpets have never been cleaned, we slept badly on top of our sheets, not wanting to get into the beds, we could not wait to leave. We would not have stayed if we could have found alternat.
