Hotel Real Colegiata San Isidoro - Fotos
Lo que la gente dice
The hotel is situated within the walls of an ancient monastery and the Roman city wall forms part of the building. The monastery incorporates a library and a museum and is the burial place of the medieval Kings of Leon. Finally, there is a church dedicated to St. Isidore, whose mortal remains reside within it. This makes it the unusual and fascinating hotel I have ever had the pleasure of staying. In. The rooms were comfortable, if a bit on the small side, but were wholly adequate. The bathroom. todo comentarios »
I can't just say enough of this place! Amazing! I think it actually is The memory from Léon for me. The hotel is the actual 11th century monastery turned into a hotel (be ready that the rooms are also actual monastery cells, so rather small but very comfy - and a part of the experience), so has those beautiful cloisters and full of antique furnitures, paintings, tapestries - pure marvel! Staff was very helpful and welcoming. They even had a free monastery guided tour for guests with yet more m.
we were welcomed back like old friends by the manager Rodrigo, who recognised us from last year. Our room was superb, more a suite, looking out on the wall of the Basilica complex. Our accumulated laundry from 8 days on the Camino was delivered back to us by early next morning. Breakfast superb- the fresh fruit gave us enough vitamins to face the long walk to Santiago! There is a wonderful serene atmosphere which reminds us we are in a working monastery, albeit the hotel side.
Having stayed in well over fifty Spanish hotels over the years this hotel will rate amongst the most memorable. Situated right in the heart of Leon it's ideal for visiting all the sights. The hotel staff are very friendly and helpful. We loved the tour around the colegiata and church of San Isidoro. It's free so take advantage. If you require an evening meal it's best to book a table. There are lots of restaurants in close proximity however.
Outstanding Hotel......a real touch of class.
Lovely rooms,great service,an excellent breakfast,including fruit!
But the place it self is steeped in History, step out of a first floor exit and you are standing upon the parapet of the original roman wall around Leon.
Look down 50/60 feet and see all the cars buzzing by,while you are locked into a time capsule.
Wonderful place.
A really lovely hotel which is at the rear of the Basilica de San Isidora, in what were the monks accommodation above the Cloisters (there are still some elderly monks in residence). Go on the tour of the Basilica, which is free and organised by the reception staff for an insight into this wonderful building. There is also a special lunch each day - ask at reception.
Convenient location just next to Cathedral and other sights. Friendly staff and very comfortable beds, well appointed rooms and calm atmosphere in a beautiful historic building. Free parking in courtyard too. Great food in the restaurant at a bargain price. Also a free tour of the building and adjacent chapel was very interesting.
Everything about this hotel was wonderful. The room, the beds & linen were perfect.
The atmosphere was so calming & restful. The furnishings are in keeping with the age & type of the building. The breakfast choice of food was generous and plentiful. It was not expensive, we would stay here any time we visit Leon.
Loved the ambience of the monastery. Staff were friendly, especially the manager who took the extra effort to give us the tour in English (even though we were the only two in the group who spoke English). Breakfast had a good selection of traditional European fare as well as Western. Bed was very comfortable.
This hotel is amazing and unique,we had a small suite and it was like staying in a place of living history.
Breakfast was very good, the location is great for the historical centre and very close to the barrio for bars and places to eat at night.
Free secure parking and free WifI completed a great package.
Exceptional property. The hotel was established about a year ago within
the 16th c Colegiata of the 12th c San Isadora Church compound. The
hotel rooms and common areas retain the simplicity and integrity of its
original purpose with elegance and modern comfort. Dinner and breakfast
were exceptional.
Housed in a beautiful historical building, with views over the cloisters and inner courtyard, from the room. Menu of the day in the hotel restaurant, was our best meal during our Camino walk, and great value as well! The young man who was the waiter, was very friendly and also very professional.
We enjoyed every minute of our stay. The room, the long corridors, the atmospere of history. Lovely breakfast, and great that we could park our car outside the hotel, and just walk out into your city of Leon so full of history. Hope to return...

It is a beautifully restored historic building, once a convent, and only opened as a hotel one year ago. There was an interesting free guided tour of the site. Our room was a suite,
the breakfast was excellent, the staff were very helpful, and the location in the old town was brilliant.
I liked everything about it. Loved the monogrammed linen, the staff were friendly and one spoke excellent English. It was quiet and has a sense of history. I can't comment about the breakfast as I didn't have it. Having researched hotels in Leon I think that this is extremely good value.
The best value for money I ever seen in a hotel, stayed half-board. Fantastic location, 11th century historic building in the very centre, and - amazingly good restaurant, had a superb exquisite and well-served dinner there, already want to return there for a weekend.
The hotel is steeped in history and takes advantage in every way to make you feel a part of the past while at the same time providing the comforts and amenities of today.
Location fantastic for exploring and parking and accessibility unsually good for the situation.
This was like staying in a bit of history!Amazing old monastery beautifully converted into lovely atmospheric hotel, central,on a lovely little square,on Camino route, lovely breakfast, free guided tour of hotel very good,a unique and special experience.
This is an excellent hotel in all respects, run by the Church (in which it is located) to pay for the upkeep of the building. Everything in this hotel looks luxurious, except for the modest price, which includes an excellent buffet breakfast.
A fabulous hotel - super comfortable, in a quiet location but near to the centre of Leon and all the main sights.
Lovely staff who were very helpful.
Breakfast was simple but good - a great buffet with a good choice for all tastes.
I.
Wonderful location, fantastic old building tastefully converted. Beautiful and interesting city and being right in the heart was a great experience. Even late at night the atmosphere was good and not in the least intimidating.
Beautifully converted building in a central location. We were given a personal tour of the historic parts of the monastery not normally available to the public, all the staff were professional and very helpful.
This place is amazing! It is inside the old monastery on the back of San
Isodoro basilica. There are antiques all around. The whole ambience was
just amazing. I've never stayed anywhere quite like this.
Amazing hotel in historic monastery with fabulous art on the walls. When I checked in I could hardly believe I was staying here -it was like something I had visited earlier in my trip for 2 hours.
The hotel was simply but tastefully furnished and everything was of good quality and well maintained. Spacious room and bathroom. Also spotlessly clean. Staff very helpful. Great value for money.
We loved the building and the whole atmosphere of it, and particularly liked the fact that it was still under the auspices of the canons and that the wonderful basilica was part of the building.
there was a free tour of the hotel because it was an old abbey. Very interesting and informative. Breakfast was very good.
The hotel is faithful to its origins as a retirement place for monks.
We loved this hotel which had the air of a parador as it is set in a beautiful old building. There was free parking on-site or next door. Well placed for walking around Leon. Great breakfast.
The manager offered a tour through the old buildings, the rooms are a
little spartanic, which is ok for a cloisture. The antique furniture of
the building is very nice.
Location superb. Good breakfast included. We had lunch there which we thought was very good for the price. The staff at the hotel were most welcoming and helpful.
Location was excellent, staff were wonderful. The tour was really informative. I loved the place and would have liked to stay longer. A beautiful start to my Camino.
Staying in a 10th century monastery. The guided tour for guests. The amazing light/sound show projected on to the cathedral starting at 23:00 Saturday evenings.
Beautifully restored cloister.Quiet, even in the middle of Leon's Medieval festival.Parking a great perk!
Restaurant and included breakfast were great value!.
it was a pleasant stay; friendly and helpful staff; very good location; beautiful building; very good breakfast; on the whole good value for money!.
Absolutely superb historical building right in the centre of Leon. Our 'double' room actually had two double beds. Excellent buffet breakfast.
Excellent location.
Helpfull staff.
Beautifully adapted historic building.
Similar to a Parador but more affordable.
Very interesting city.
The decor is simple but stunning being part of the converted monastery.
Beds were really comfy.
Location is excellent.
Staff very helpful.
Once inside this is a lovely historical building which has been really
well converted right in the heart of Leon - highly recommended.
The hotel is situated in an old convent arranged around a lovely courtyard. It's quirky and interesting and very good value.
The historic building is fascinating. It is complemented by beautiful furniture and the stay was exceptionally enjoyable.
Very friendly and efficient staff, beautiful bulding and great location.Very good restaurant too.Superb value for money.
Very friendly staff, mostly speaking fluent English.
Nice breakfast.
Great guided visit to the monastery.
Free parking.
Beautiful hotel, great location, lovely rooms, good breakfast and a very interesting guided tour included in the stay.
Great location in the historic city centre - and with free parking. Wonderful old building, part hotel, part museum.
The hotel's surroundings are fabulous and the fact that there is secure parking is a bonus. The location is perfect.
The old building is beautiful and quiet almost like a monastery. The rooms are big and cozy. Location is perfect.
Good breakfast and tour. Room comfortable but somewhat spartan. Shower good but bathroom unheated. Free parking.
Lovely room, excellent bed and bedding, very clean. Peaceful and quiet. Lovely breakfast and charming people.
liked the historical connection.
a lovely old building.
added bonus was the free tour of the colegiata building.
The hotel itself is a must-see in Leon. Very spacious room. Breakfast was very good. Free parking on site.
can't think of a thing.
There was nothing we didn't like.
Nada!.
The room I had above the remaining Roman walls only had a little window, and although I kept it open at night I still could not sleep properly in my very warm room. They need to install air conditioning and then the hotel will be perfect!.
A larger sign to the reception desk would be useful.
This hotel is so difficult to find & then access. Many locals were unable to help us find it but we made it.
Wifi access is limited to the reception area. Our room was missing a phone and when we enquired about this, they said they would fix it but we didn't hear anything.
I like everything about this hotel.
There was no bar at the hotel, no hotel information in the room, and some minor maintenance was needed there.
The only thing I missed was tea making facilities but at the price I accepted this happily.
The room is not that spaciuos (but really very good for the monastery building).
Absolutely nothing!.
We liked everything.
Not well signposted, so a little difficult to find. However, everyone knows it so just ask around.
The previous occupants of the building (monks) believed that redemption was found through suffering! That would explain the awful beds and pitiful pillows. What have the Spanish got against good bedding? The food in the restaurant was free; just as well really. No one would pay for such poor fare. In addition, the hotel entrance was poorly signposted and we found it by luck after a long search.
Our corridor was above the extractor for the kitchen and when it was turned on (evening and morning) it made the room vibrate. We were offered a room which was slightly better but unfortunately the radiator hissed. If it hadn't been for these noise issues the hotel would have been perfect in every respect.
Nothing - the whole place was utterly amazing.
Nothing.
Dinner not served till 9pm, but that's not unusual in Spain!.
Nothing.
I arrived late at night and I was very difficult to find the exact location of the hotel. Some streets are closed and you need to contact the police to pass because the hotel is located in an historic part of town with closed streets.
The bathroom was very small.
Service at breakfast was not great.
Our room on the roadside and could be noisy with the windows open.
Nothing.
Do not have a bar and do not offer tea/coffee facility.
Getting in to old city and the hotel parking area is a bit difficult due access control bollards and crowds of pedestrians.
Instructions regarding access difficult to follow.
These could be improved.
Breakfast was disappointing for a hotel of this quality -no fresh bread, only toasted and getting a second cup of coffee was like getting blood out of stone.
Also shame wi fi is only available next to reception not in rooms.
Would be nice if there were facilities to have a drink or coffee in the lounge area.
The hotel is hard to reach by car due to it being inside the
pedestrianised historical centre and the directions (written and
verbal) provided were vague - for reference you need to enter from
calle Lope de Vega.
Nothing.
Nothing.
Room was quite basic and bathroom was really tiny. But the real problem was lack of airconditioning - it was quite noisy outside, so opening a window wasn't an option.
The car parking was a little difficult to find and this was especially so as we arrived during a major festival. Might not be such a problem at other times?.
Understaffed (though all were very friendly). Our room, overlooking the city wall, suffered from traffic noise.
nothing.
Small bathrooms and no doors to the balcony, small windows.
VERY difficult to find. Inside the old city walls which has limited access during the day.
There are no facilities to get a drink no minibar, no bar. There should be a facilities to mat least get a bottle of water. Difficult to locate even with a sat nav. Only one entrance available to the hotel in this walled city. The address needs to be notified to visitors.
