Singwe River Lodge

Balule Nature Reserve, Greater Kruger National Park (Hoedspruit, Limpopo)

Directions to the lodge from Pretoria: GPS Co-ordinates for the Main Balule Gate into which you will enter the reserve : S24 13 36.0 E30 51 59.5 (please use these as the actual lodge co-ordinates when entered into the GPS’s seem to take our guests on the wrong roads) . Take N4 Highway towards eMalahleni (old name wasWitbank), pass Bronkhorstspruit, eMalahleni, Middleburg until you see turnoff to BELFAST. Take BELFAST TURNOFF and turn left onto road to Belfast. Go through Belfast – when you see turnoff in Belfast to Dullstroom – turn right onto road that take you to Dullstroom. Carry on with Dullstroom road, go through Dullstroom and on to Lydenburg (new name is Mashisheng), at T-Junction turn left into Lydenburg – go through Lydenburg and follow signs to Ohrigstad. Go on to Ohrigstad (watch out for potholes) – go through Ohrigstad and follow signs to Hoedspruit. You go through a mountain pass . Go through JG Stryjom tunnel and go on to HOEDSPRUIT. When you get to Hoedspruit, go through until you cross over railway bridge and get the 3rd stop. Turn left onto the R40 road to PHALABORWA. Go straight on road to Phalaborwa for 15km’s until you see the Balule Olifants West Reserve sign--- slow down ,turn right into thatched covered gate into Balule Olifants West gate There is a R60 entrance fee that you need to pay at gate – tell them that you are going to Singwe River Lodge. They will be happy to direct you and they will also radio the lodge to let us know of your arrival. Once through gate turn directly left onto dust road (Maroela road) and travel about 3 km until you see stone gate entrance to Singwe on your left. Turn left onto this road and travel straight down the road for 3km (over some hills) to the river. As you get near river you will see sign that says lodge. Follow that and it will bring you to the entrance of the lodge. Hoot if gate is locked – if not slide it open and drive in.
