Having stayed at the Family Inn Saiko for almost a week I have to say that the whole experience has been a truly pleasant one! In fact, I would go even so far as saying that it was one of the most pleasant experiences in a few years worth of travelling.
Staff are extremely friendly, helpful and make one immediately feel at ease.

I loved how friendly and helpful the hotel staff was and how willing they were to assist me in my travels as well as answer my questions and concerns. The room was VERY clean and comfortable and it was a great Japanese cultural experience. It was conveniently located close to 3 subway stops, including the Ikebukuro station. I definitely enjoyed my stay here and if I am ever in Tokyo again, I will be staying here again! I have already recommended the Family Inn Saiko to friends!

This modern version of a ryokan is a great mix of new and traditional design. The four women staff we met were delightful, spoke English, helped with directions etc (thanks, Yuka). Rooms are small, of course, but there was a place for everything. Shared facilities were good quality, clean and well-supplied. Good breakfast choices, and teas and good coffee on demand. Great, efficient, very friendly, clean. Note that there isn't wi-fi but there's a computer to use. You can't leave your bag for a while once you'e checked out, but if you're staying multiple nights you can leave it throughout the in-between days, if that makes sense. Still giving this five stars because everything promised was delivered to the highest standard.
