Before staying at Poblado Plaza I did some research and most of the reviews were great, apparently the only complaint was the dated bathrooms and TV's, but being born and raised in Medellin I knew Poblado Plaza as one of the best hotels around and, fortunately I was right.

The hotel is conveniently located in downtown Medellin in Avenida Poblado, the major artery through the downtown area. There are three or more hugh malls within walking distance, a McDonald's and Hard Rock Cafe next door. Some desk personnel speak some English, but I found that there were generally few English speakers. The staff was courteous and attentive; rooms were spotless. WiFi worked well, and flat screen tvs got some American channels. Excellent breakfast.

The people,- everyone working in the hotel went above and beyond what I would expect from room service, food service, spa service, and especially front desk service who also helped me with the computers. The location was excellent, walking distance to 2 large malls, bank, shops, and restaurants in the hotel complex. Price reasonable. -

The swimming pool was perfect. We had it completely to ourselves both days.
There was always a taxi waiting at the main entrance when we needed one.
